That is all hindsight Reg. 2006 and 2007 is a whole year, with no real precedent for Mayweather, a small man moving up in weight, to challenge a bigger DLH. The Hopkins fight was big not only because Hopkins had such a big size advantage but because he was the best man at 160lbs. The Vargas fight was big because of the rivalry and the personal history between the two. The Mosley-DLH fights were big because of the SoCal thing. Bascially all those fights had proven potential before they even came off. The Mayweather fight seemed alot of speculation but the P4P title played into making it real big. And do you honestly think Cotto or Hatton would take the table scraps Tony would have taken in 2006? That is unrealistic man, I gotta say. Anyways I stand by the statement that there was no real way Arum could have known he'd get 20, let alone 25. Again, there was no precedent for it. Now that there is a precedent for it, he is obviously gonna be asking 20 for Pacquiao.
Exactly and that's why these guys are nothing more than irrational haters. Even when presented with hard facts they continue to ignore them to further their agenda. The man has a quote from Arum stating PBF wanted to fight Margo, Hatton and Cotto and it's still not enough...pathetic.:-(
I don't believe a man who starts to studder and scratch his nose when faced with tough questions. I'll tell you that much.
Please.... a Mayweather/Oscar fight was money in the bank. Anybody with sense could have told you that fight would sell, big time. (Golden Boy vs Pretty Boy?? Please.. easy as hell to market that) Same with Hatton and his ready made fanbase. That was 1 million buys in the bank, along with the 900k Mayweather was able to bring in. Arum made a poor business decision and underestimated Mayweather's drawing power, plain and simple. It has cost him at least $15 million... guarantee you that. That would make anybody a little sour. Love him or hate him (Mayweather), but controversy sells.
There is a big difference between money in the bank and demanding 20 million. Again, that would require a precedent. Happy ending of course for Mayweather but it doesn't take away the reality that for Arum to offer that guarantee he'd be taking a huge risk.
Sometimes in business you need to take calculated risks in order to make a large profit. Play big, win big. Rules of the game man. Arum made the wrong play. If Floyd could do 300k on PPV against Baldomir, you don't think he could sell over a million with Oscar and Hatton who have ready made fans? Sorry, but Arum was foolish. "Money" Mayweather showed up and controversy sells. Just like Ali in a way, people buy fights to see him win, and others buy fights to see him lose... either way, they are buying the fight. You seem to be denial just like old Bob.
PBF has a known studder problem what does that prove? You've been hit with facts man and you continue to spin and speculate when others have presented facts. Pack it up man you've lost this argument bow out gracefully.
