man Enzo was like Rocky last night... when those national anthems were playing before the fight it was just like Rocky-Drago
To his benefit. He has always been a guy who looked like Calzaghe, untoned, not very strong looking, but with great stamina. He worked on building muscle after the Haye loss and came in against Ofalabi looked cut, toned and more heavily muscled. It reeked of all the wrong focus in training and sure enough he lost because he was gassed. Something that has never happened to him before. In regards to this win, he looked great. His finishing was beautiful, mixing up body to head, gave himself room to pick the shots and find gaps. Something that Haye would do well to try and implement when he has a man hurt, instead of rushing in, swinging. But, Enzo has a very fragile chin. And quite simply he will get KOd again. This guy looked clueless to be honest, and the previous 2 wins on the bounce were low level journeymen. Still I hope he proves me wrong, as going forward he is a very good fighter and puts a great variety of shots together. His body punching is some of the best in the division.
If Enzo had a world class trainer instead of some dumb sardinian with a god complex may be his career wouldnt have been in tatters after the Haye fight. Enzo has the right attitude. He has limitations and has probably found his level. But he can be polished if he can find a trainer that can really harvest his punching power which is world class. The kid needs some good confidence builders. This is a vey good start considering the EBU was on the line.
Very good win for Enzo when you consider he was away from home against his first decent opponent since the Lebedev defeat. He looked quick and sharp although he did get caught by a few but i suppose he has never been the hardest man to hit. His chin will always be a problem but its good to see that he has lost the bulk that he put on after the Haye defeat. He tired badly during the Afolabi fight and i believe it was due to the extra muscle he put on from twatting tyres with hammers. If he can get his old stanima back, which was always good, and if he can tighten up his defenses a little to protect his chin then he could make a bit of noise in the CW division once more. If Hide wins prizefighter then that is the obvious match to make as it is very winnable for Macca plus i believe Hide has a high ranking with one of the belts.
agree enzo calzaghe really showed his limitations as a trainer and cornerman with enzo mac.... that afalobi fight was an easy fight for enzo mac to win....but between the two enzos, they didnt have a clue what to do correctly in that fight....calzaghe did not have any idea what to do in the corner, not a clue... with the right cornerman enzo could have won easily on points.
