I'm sorry but I won't believe the transformation until it has been proven. What happens when he's put under pressure again? Old dogs and new tricks etc. Neither haye, frenkel or afolabi had to go looking for their shot. I think it's more to do with laziness than red mist and being unable to defend himself properly. He needs to learn to block punches without using his chin.
He boxed superb against Braithwaite. I was there that night - went up to Cardiff for the fight - I bumped into Jo Emma Larvin (Joe Calzaghes missus when she was coming back from the ladies and I was going to the gents) - didnt say anything though - just excuse me. Enzo kept his discipline and boxed neatly - I was hoping he would show the same temparment against Haye - but he actually was more gung ho against Haye. Only time will tell - if he gets tagged again - the red mist is a instinct.
I was there for the first Hobson fight and wasn't overly impressed but he had a great and improvement filled run up to the haye fight. I think the result would have been similar regardless of how he chose to fight as haye looked the part and has gone onto better things. I genuinely think enzo is better served down at light heavy as long as he addressed the other issues. He plods around ponderously at times and looks positively clumsy at others. Stamina has never been an issue but that's no use at all if the fight only lasts a handful of rounds. A saving grace for him now is that enzo calzaghe can concentrate on him rather than just have him as a side show to his son. This could prove key.
A couple of concerns I have with Enzo Calzaghe as trainer though............ Ok - its good for Enzo Macc - cos Newbridge is just a drive down the M4 - he knows Enzo Cal well and is comfortable with him. Team Enzo - is back. Enzo Cal has a wealth of experience and knows Enzo Macc well. But does Enzo Cal train Enzo Macc to his strengths ? :think I dont think Enzo Cal trains any kind of defence work at all - his defence is attack - just throw 1000 punchs a round kind of thing ? :blood No skipping at Camp Calzaghe is allowed - :-( And what about sparring ? - what kind of sparring partners can they draft in down at Camp Calzaghe - its orgainised choas down there - Enzo Calzahge is more concerned about his recording studio at the back of the gym than the actual boxing gym itself. Also - good to see Enzo has cut out all the fatty stuff from his diet - but I presume he is going to be driven to his fights in Enzo Calzaghes Vauxhall People carrier - lets hope its not spotted outside junk food takeaways on fight night. :dead
BObby Gunn, the man who challenged enzo for his title way back described enzo as "huge, this guy was massive, the biggest cruiserweight I had ever seen" Enzo had moobs that night as well. I like him as a person but I think he is done, finished
Nah, I disagree. If you can make a million winning easy fights then great. It's when you become champ and make peanuts that's the sad part. It's all about the money.
Skipping is a waste of time. For this reason I believe Enzo will capture a title at light heavyweight. No skipping and moderated consumption of junk food.
So Enzo claims there's nothing wrong with his chin, and his KO losses are down to him simply getting caught whilst having a tear up? If that's the case why move down to light heavy? All he had to do was change his style and clean up at cruiserweight, no? Enzo is mistaken if he thinks he's going to be some kind of beast at light heavy, he get beaten no differently to how he did before. He's totally deluded if he thinks otherwise.
I disagree - its good for footwork and balance and co-ordanation. But Enzo Calzaghe reveled before in a exclusive Camp Calzaghe Youtube Video - they dont skip at his gym - because he dosent want to waste time - he just wants to get the pad work done - so he can go home !!!!!! :bolt
