It didnt in reality, who was his best win at HW ? Probably Chisora. Yes he lost against the best HW since Lewis which isnt a criticism but the manner of the defeat is, wasnt competitive in slightest. Valuev was possibly the worst HW champion of all time and he scrapped a win (i personally though he won a lot easier than scorecards). Its not to say he didnt have success at HW but in comparison to CW where he is one of the beat ever it didnt translate in the same way it did for Holyfield. Yes people believed but thats more due to the style of Haye, who was incredibly entertaining to watch (in fights where he was in control anyway). Lets not forget people thought Price was the next big thing (me included) and Fury was a fraud (not me i always liked Fury), its because the majority of boxing fans in the UK are casual fans (which i dont thibk is a major problem TBH).

I actually think we tend to be more critical of Haye in the Klitschko fight because Haye talked the talk and really hyped up his chances. Whilst he lost he got closer to Wlad than anyone had in a good while and certainly until Fury fought him.

There was a really funny thread about Enzo stopping off at the chippy on the way in if anyone can dig it out

I was only 15 and quite new to being a regular watcher when that Haye fight happened so I was a bit naive. I’d seen Enzo on a few ITV cards knocking out people who looking back were not all that, seen Calzaghe training him and hoped he’d beat Haye.

The big shock for me at the time was losing to Afolabi. He then went straight in with Lebedev didn’t he?

Will always feel sorry for him for that Braehmer fight, he was well in it. That eye was horrible.

    True.

Enzo was a beast at his best. 2 or 3 really good wins there. Cruisers always get underrated.
