"Erik Morales ducked Marquez" Max Kellerman

I agree 100%. Barerra was tops. I'd like to see Kellerman say that (through an interpreter of course) to Morales, then run.

Nacho has had a big hand in JMM's failure to make big fights. The Pac rematches was Nacho's call. I'm to lazzy to find the article where they refused the fight becaus eof money, nothing else, it was the money.

 

How much money did Marquez get for the pac rematch. Hope he got 1 mil.

 

Pac fought all of them too, and even more frequency.

 

Eric Morales doesn't understand that word.

 

If anybody can point me to a fight clip where either Morales or MAB mentions wanting to fight JMM, please direct me to it.

I've seen everyone of their championship fights and not once did either of them mention JMM as a possible opponent......they mention other fighters, but JMM's name is avoided like the plague!

MAB gets the decision victory over Morales in their rematch, and he dumps the title to avoid having to fight JMM, who MAB knew was a fighter that most likely could beat him.

 

Kellerman is ****.

All indications are that the JMM-Pac rematch is going to come close to 500k buys.......
.....neither, MAB or Morales did that fighting Pac.

.....but I know what you mean, at the time, JMM was too much of a risk and financially they were'nt going to compensate them for a fight that inside the ring would have been a 50/50 proposition at best for both MAB and Morales.

......no champion wants to fight a fighter the caliber of JMM unless the boxing public is absoltuely demanding it as what Pacquiao went through to have to take the JMM rematch.

.....at the end of the day, these champions are doing everything in their power to avoid having to face JMM.....examples are Hamed petitioning the sanctioning bodies to bypass his mandatory.....
.....and MAB dumping his newly won title bout when he beat Morales in their rematch.
These are all acts of avoidance, and thats what Max Kellerman meant when he said the best featherweights of the era ducked JMM......the better word would have probably been avoided.

 

Knowing Arum he most likely set it all up to downplay Marquez and go ahead with the Morales-Pacquiao fight.

i've already posted a link which is a fact... morales never duck or avoided no one, if you missed that one out its on the second page of this thread. There is no evidence that morales ducked or avoided JMM but there is evidence that JMM price himself out when he was offered $1.4mil which is big compared to $30,000

 

JMM fought Medina for the IBF title and then Gainer to get the WBA title. Barrera was in his period of not wanting to recognise sanctioning bodies and wanting to pay their fees. I myself thought the fights Barrera took after Morales were easy pickings, but he did not duck JMM at that point in his career (Manny yes imo).

Morales regained the vacant title by beating Ayala to pulp. JMM had not done that much up to getting the IBF title, aside from being a dangerous and respected fighter. After Pac - JMM I the issue was not about Pac ducking or MAB or EM for that matter, it was JMM not wanting to take better money and more risk.

JMM is a good / great fighter, but too much is being made of him at the moment. His resume is not comparable to the other three greats imo:

1. Manny Pacquiao
2. Erik Morales
3. Marco Antonio Barrera
4. Naseem Hamed
5. Juan Manuel Marquez

 

Morales is a great warrior and fought anyone if he could where the hell did he get that!atsch atsch atsch
