If "El Terrible" does decide to come back to boxing, I don't want him Vs. the usual 2 anymore.. (Manny & Marco) A Diaz rematch, JMM/Casa. or bust (I think the time off, might have done Morales some good.)
I actually agree with you bro....EM looked good against Diaz. I felt he won that fight, but it was in no way a robbery. I just felt he did more to get the "W". With that said Diaz is not a tomato can. He is a strong, solid fighter at 135. EM was moving up for the first time. Given those circumstances I feel EM can still compete and win against some of the best out there....Just not with "THE VERY BEST".
Boxrec has it like 133-134. From memory I can't recall if it was a catchweight or @ 135. I thought it was @ 135.
Morales still has great boxing skills going for him. He needs a fighter that doesnt fight at such a pace. Someone like Casamayor would be a good fight for him, or if Khan can get a WBO strap he can win that too.
Ok...then it was a catch weight...closer to 135. Still, he went back down to 130 to face Pac after the loss to Raheem, then bouced back up to 135 after the loss to PAC to face Diaz and did really good IMO. I think he won like I said before. So I don't agree with people saying he is SHOT, but past his prime....definitely.
It was definetely 135. Boxrec has him weighing in at 134 meaning he met the weight requirements of being within 135 limit. They list him at 129 too when fighting at 130 cos that was his officiial weight. It was his first fight at LW against a slick good fighter and he clearly underestimated Raheem.
the latest rumor i have heard is he will be fighting alex arthur for the wbo superfeather strap in the uk. It would be awsome to see erik on these shores but i hope someone close to him can talk him out of returning at all.
Your coming outta left field with that one. I think that if EM comesback is for another crack at the 135th title to try to make history. Not to struggle to make weight and fight a nobody for a WBO belt.
As much as I would've loved to see EM against JMM a few years ago, I don't think El Terrible should fight anymore. I refuse to rewatch that 3rd EM-Pac. The look on his faceafter he got knocked down for the last time just said it all. He has given enough to the sport and I don't want to see him fight anymore. Too bad other fighters who are still in their prime can't have the same balls and heart that Morales has to keep on fighting. *cough* PBF *cough*
It was heartbreaking to watch a fighter of such quality and pride being blasted out by Pacquiao then lose to someone like Diaz. He is an all-time great, the authorities should prevent him coming back and tarnishing his legacy. Some guys can sustain a high level as they get older (Bernard Hopkins) and some can't (Roy Jones Jr), but it should not be a reflection on how they were at their peak, and Morales's peak was wonderful.
