I know there's many of us who'd love to have a job within the sport or even do some bits and pieces with local club. I'm currently thinking about going into do a bit of coaching myself as it's of interest to me.

Anyways this forum has really helped professional fighters and fans achieve a fair amount over the years. So i think it's about time we had a thread which advertised for club/projects needing people to help out.

Many clubs are falling on hard times and it kinda gets overlooked on here due to it not being pushed.

I know the thread's not gonna be a great success and will fall down the pages but why not. Can only do good for clubs that need you! :good

Boxing Instructors/Boxing coaches Required (Dorking, Surrey)

I'm looking for someone who has experience in boxing and ideally teaching boxing.

Dorking Boxing club is on a Tuesday and a Thursday. The succesful applicant will co-run a class on a tuesday night from 7pm-8,30pm. They will deliver the technical session alongside the fitness coach who wil obviously run the fitness side. Dorkings old coach (myself - Matt) has been offered a new job and no longer able to make this time slot. In time when we build membership up after our new marketing campaign we will do two sessions a night; one juniors and one seniors. However at present we only have around 15 attending per class so we are combining it until such time that increased numbers force us to put into two sessions.

We invite males and females and have a mixed ability and age range. Teaching different levels and ages is very hard and the successful applicant should feel confident in teaching partner work as we have no bags or ring at present. We have lots of skipping ropes, gloves and pads. We are in an interim period whereby our facility was taken away. We now rent a school hall and are not allowed bags or a ring. We are using this facility until we find somewhere new.

The pay is £20 a night. Increasing to £25 after probabtion period has been passed.

The applicant MUST:
be reliable
be personable
have boxing experience
Be confident delivering technical boxing sessions

We are currently opening up another club in a local area so there is a massive opportunity to become head instructor at this new club if you prove yourself worthy at the single session a week in Dorking.

Job Description

Established 7 years ago, Let Me Play started off as a specialist sports camp organisation. Through rapid growth and diversification, we now provide coaching and teaching programmes for PPA cover, after-school clubs, breakfast clubs and lunch-time clubs for schools across London, PR for major sports brands and delivery of government projects targeting children from low income families.

We are currently recruiting Boxing coaches to deliver Easter provision plus breakfast, lunch and after-school clubs as well as PPA cover to over 100 schools across London.

Job Description:

We need enthusiastic and passionate coaches to deliver high quality sessions to children aged 5 to 16 in schools in and around London. Each class will have 15-20 children participating.

There will be a framework of coaching principles to work within but coaches are expected to bring their expertise and coaching knowledge and to set out lesson plans prior to every session.

Coaches must be confident and competent in their delivery and must be a team player.

This job is ideal for a student or someone looking for extra work, as the hours are flexible.

Boxing Coach/s Required for University Boxing Club
Heriot-watt University, Edinburgh

Heriot-Watt University Boxing Club is looking to take on two experienced boxing coaches. Heriot-Watt Boxing Club is a relatively new club, and last year achieved affiliation with ABS (Armature Boxing Scotland). The potential candidate must be a registered coach with ABS, experienced in training large numbers as well as training fighters.

We at current have 106 members; however, we predict the numbers to be in the excess of 150 next year. Most of the attendees at the club are very keen to get “boxing” fit and very much enjoy the training, we also have a core of around 15, who would be looking to get their first fights next year along with the two fighters that we at present have. Even though we have all the essential equipment, we do have a reasonable budget for developing this next year, which will be available for the new coach/s, along with the committee, to spend as they see fit.

Our current training times are Monday 3.15-5.15, Wednesday and Friday 4.15-6.15, although these are somewhat flexible if the new coach/s requires; we are also in talks of arranging a fourth session, however this would be finalised nearer September and is again negotiable for times.

We are not necessarily looking for one coach to do all these sessions. We are thinking about having one session with a more experienced coach, would be able to take large numbers for a more structured class with technique and boxing fundamentals. Another session that would be a boxing inspired fitness class, we would expect very large numbers for this class, a lot of novices and people who do not wish to box but are interested in the fitness aspect of it. We also predict that this class would act as an entry point for people wishing to box but may feel intimidated by the sport; we hope that some of the people who attend this class would eventually gain the confidence to attend the other sessions. Finally, in our other session/s we hope to have both coaches in attendance with the emphasis on sparring, one-on-one time with individuals to work on specifics, also to work towards any upcoming fights.

We have found through experience that the university students prefer to know what to expect at sessions in advance, and prefer more structured classes. However, this is just an idea that we have, and we think that this would be a good way of progressing for Heriot-Watt boxing club. If you have any comments or suggestions please let us know.

We are very open to hearing from everyone who may be interested in this position, from experience coaches looking for a more full time role, to coaches with limited experience willing to assist in sessions.
Heriot-Watt University Boxing Club has a very well organised team behind it as well as the assistance of the funding, resources and management skills of the country’s top university Sports Unions. With large numbers and even higher numbers predicted next year, large numbers of potential fighters, this is a great opportunity for any ambitious coach who wishes to drive this forward.
