The fact that Rudd didn't protest should say it all.

He wasn't going to protest. Dude didn't have a shot at winning.

Not hurt, but in trouble. It was probably not a necessary (as in life and death) stoppage at that exact moment but it was obvious where it was heading and the ref basically just spared him an equally unnecessary pulping. Hard stoppage to argue with, since all Rudd was doing to mount a counter-argument was slapping weakly at the body while getting nailed and failing to defend himself adequately.

Which is the refs job. It was a well timed stoppage imo.

    Hardly british standard.

It was a good stoppage. He was totally confused after it was stopped. He was on his way out and his punches had nothing on them and his reflexes were very poor. He has a warriors heart though.

I scored the first three rounds for Petrov, 30-27 points. The fight was an absolute physical mismatch. Petrov was much too strong, and was able to force his way inside to pound away at will with hard left hooks to the head and body, and some overhand rights to the head. Rudd simply did not have the boxing ability to keep Petrov at a distance, and so he got sucked into a brawl, and then lacked the strength in his flailing arm punches to keep Petrov off him. The one thing Rudd was able to do in this fight was to grab at Petrov coming in, hold him in a clinch, and bang on his body. But when in the 3rd round the referee warned both fighters about their excessive holding, that basically ended the fight competitively, because Petrov then encountered no further resistance as he came inside and landed numerous power punches on Rudd in the 3rd (the punch statistics had Petrov landing 61 of 90 power shots in the 3rd round) and 4th rounds. Rudd was brave, but he took far too many power shots, and the referee did a good job stopping the fight early in the 4th round.
