Chris Eubank Jr has told the Sun on Sunday he wants an immediate rematch with Liam Smith, citing a foul as the reason he lost. Eubank, 33, told the Sun on Sunday that Smith 'threw an elbow that concussed me, i started seeing white spots and was woozy and then Liam started throwing lots of punches, some that caught me and put me down. You could have tickled me with a feather and i would have gone down, that's how out of it i was because of his elbow, i didn't even feel the punches'. Eubank's team are currently awaiting the outcome of an appeal to change the result of the fight last Saturday to a no contest.
I can see them playing that narrative and tbh if it was the correct sequence of events then maybe they have a case. Not that I agree tho. Unfortunately we all know that the truth was that Smith was the better fighter on the night But the Eubanks will lobby the board that an accidental elbow occurred that had an immediate effect on the outcome. I would suppose they will argue that if the ref had called a halt immediately after the elbow (I know it was the middle of a combo) that jnr would of instructed the Dr that he was concussed and a no contest would of been declared. Whether the ref saw it or not would be irrelevant to their case, im guessing. If the board concurs that the eubanks might be able to get a judge to agree with them then it might not be worth the board upholding the Smith win.
It all makes sense now in the gloves are off when Eubank has been calling out Williams and Smith for being dirty fighters. While his chin is made out of pure granite, it is for punches only. Contact from anything other than the fist is kyrptonite
Smith would be more than happy with a rematch I reckon. Another pay day and and winnable fight. Eubank lost fair and square. I do think he could have taken a count and little before the closing sequence which might have saved him in that round but Beefy was fighting his fight. Eubankj was moving a lot and although he looked OK it didn't look ultra comfortable. he doesn't have a great jab or right hand, his money punches are his hooks and uppercuts and this hybrid phoney RJJ upright boxing his doing doesn't suit him.
Pathetic. Lying through his teeth Smith already dropped him prior to the alleged elbow https://www.youtube.com/shorts/moCmoYhjlFA
He got caught with the elbow because his basic fundamentals are so bad and he leaned forward, straight into it while backed in the corner. But it's easier for his ego to blame cheating than admitting his short comings and learning to correct them.
Bingo. Anyone blaming Smith for being dirty there or making out it was intentional needs a few brain cells re-wired.
