End day cox isn't a big name cox been domestic level hasn't really shown can be world level but nether has cej. He has lost to best and only decent name on his record in bjs. and has fought buns since Once ebj fighTs a legit top 5 or even 10 At 160 or 168 fair enough but the hype sum have on here for ebj like he's elite is so laughable. IMO he can fight he can't box slow feet but he avoids all decent fighters and parading that ibo belt like it's champions league is so cringeworthy.

James 5000 you sayin cox is a bum etc. This and that and ebj is so great why has he fought no big names. ? U telling me likes golovkin degale groves even likes c smith etc are scared of a guy easily lost to bjs seriously ? Don't u want him to fight decent level fighters and prove he belongs big fights
Right now he could easily fight
Ggg. Jacobs . David lemuix. Abraham c smith degale. Groves. Ramirez. Canelo. Chavez jr. ndam. Dirrel. Christ even Kessler. But why doesn't he have anyone off note on this record if he such an elite fighter. ??? He would get much more respect if he fought a few decent names but he doesn't can't hide behind It's eddies fault frank fault or every other promoter fault end day any fight can be made if boxer wants it. If ebj and senior want world believe his son is top level and they actual believe he is stop fighting domestic opponents all time fight sumone that list and that top ma head be others av prob forgot.

kevinreid a very sensible post. CEJ has shown nothing and there have been some offers on the table for him for him to "show what he can do", but the Eubanks make it so difficult to deal with them with their pathetic and ridicolous demands, thats its like they mess people about so as the fights don't go ahead because they haven't got the intention or the bottle to mix it with the names they mention.

CEJ conditiong is fantastic, and he does look impressive in training, and he has been exciting to watch in fights, but that doesn't mean he is anywhere near world level or going to be anytime soon. I'd actually say at this point CEJ is more of a "gym fighter" than anything else, looks cracking in the training sessions but as of late when it comes to the crunch he's been losing his pen and will to fight. And kevin mentions parading the IBO belt around like its a prestigious title, this alone tells me the Eubanks are in dreamland and not in reality, they don't seem to want to prove anything at this point, CEJ seems happy to Tweet a few names and watch the retweets roll in rather than actually box

can't take away the training ethic of CEJ, the man is a blatant grafter in the gym, but that ultimately means nothing if you are not signing yourself into decent fights!

Cox isn't a bum and CEJ isn't a bum, but CEJ is definitely not levels above Cox like some are suggesting, alot of Cox's short comings are to do with his temper and just losing his rag in the ring, alot of CEJs short comings are to do with bad timing, dodgy footwork, lack of a boxing brain, not jabbing enough, many things that a world level/elite fighter such as he aspires to me, needs. If Cox can keep his temper in line fundamentally he is far better than CEJ at the boxing basics. Cox has shown he can at times be easy to hit yes, but so has CEJ, CEJ lunges alot and leaves himself out to dry but so far billyjoe was the only one who could properly exploit this

    It was an honest mistake

It isn't even disputable that Jr is a world class operator, dispatching the likes of Chudinov, Spike, Blackwell and Quinlan and fighting on even terms with BJS as a novice is evidence enough. The thing that is disputable is whereabouts he lies at world level, is he top tier or is he just a belt holder/decent contender.

It is very disputable that Cox is even British level at this stage but he was just a fight away from a world title shot and has a very pretty record. Cox isn't exactly a novice he has had plenty of fights and many are readily available on youtube. The Sai fight was a long time ago but his very last fight he actually looked worse and showed little improvement in the 5 or so years!!!! The guy throws every punch with bad intentions though and he's an absolute nutter in the ring which would build interest.

I think there is enough evidence in the Sai fight and the Rios fight to suggest he would need a miracle to beat Jr.l

I take the point that he might be viewed as high risk/low reward in different circumstances, especially if he demanded a cut in the purse. It isn't like Jr has millions of better options, and this looks like the golden ticket to me. Fights against a Yildrim or a Danny Jacobs are so much harder with probably less reward when you consider they will need a purse. Beating Yildrim wont put Jr on the map but I suppose beating Jacobs would be a big career win but the fact Jacobs is so good the risk/reward level means it would be easier to take the Cox fight.

Cox has looked golden in fights with some limited opposition but even against them anyone that has stood up to him and have fought back have had decent success and I wouldn't even classify Sai and Rios as British level. Sai didn't just have decent success he was absolutely robbed against Cox and Cox should have been DQ'd in both fights.

I'm not even that anti Cox I was just trying to wind some people up to see if some Cox lovers might have some banter. Heck didn't Cox himself once post on this board? If the animal happened to read this thread he shouldn't be hating me, I was trying to build hype in this fight and we all know a decent PR team will scan the board from time to time as ESB is seen as the premier forum in the world!!! I was trying to help secure his dream fight so he should applaud me!! Like it or not the stripper bashing rightly or wrongly will always be something he is known for (don't think he did actually).

    A few things
    1) Cox had a decent amateur record so he was probably due to step up faster than Jr who was learning the Job as a pro. Cox has now had 21 fights, @21 fights Jr had fought BJS and Chudinov. Cox is a lot older than Jr as well, but I guess you will put it down to injuries and external out of ring factors. Did Cox look any better in his last fight against Rios? Rios was shaking him up every second round!

    2) Disregarding the BJS fight Jr has still fought Chudinov, Spike, Blackwell and Quinlan. Not the best of names but they are much better than people want to give credit for, Blackwell was peaking when he fought Jr he stopped the very decent John Ryder and is the only man to do. Quinlan ktfo Daniel Geale in 1.2 rounds. Chudinov is nearing a title shot @ 168 where he has a decent ranking now. Heck even Tom Doran would spank current British 160 champ Tommy Langford and he also has a win over the Ogogo killer!

    3) Cox may have better fundamentals, I note he throws text book punches even when he's swinging like a wild man. Jr is very unorthodox but that has big advantages as well, and helps him work on the inside where I think the fight will be won or lost. Cox absolutely loses the plot in the ring like he see's the red mist and against a accurate and relentless puncher like Jr it aint going to end well for him. I think Cox is a decent puncher but he clearly isn't a big puncher at world level, he gets some highlight reel KO's because he throws every punch with bad intentions and after 6 rounds he must lose his sting because I note he has only 1 ko after 6 rounds!

I would probably have a little chuckle if Cox won as it would be unbelievable to me, but I would be very disappointed for Jr who I consider to be one of the most underrated fighters in the world. I would admit Cox is miles better than I thought.

Personally I think Cox would beat up the like of Tommy Langford and Rocky Feilding.
Tommy Langford would be a dead man walking and would get steam rolled faster than against Khurtsidze. Fielding would be more of a challenge because he's so big and can punch hard when he wants to. I just think Fielding and especially Langford would be too timid against Cox and when Cox jumps on them (which he will from the opening bell) they will lose the plot and game plasns will go out the window.

John Ryder would be too much for Cox, he doesn't take a backward step to nobody he's so short he's built to fight on the inside. Ryder @168 has good stamina and he's a superior technician to Cox who just wants a war. Ryder will box Cox ears off and stop him when he fades or gets DQ'd.

Do you think its easy to get big/elite names to fight you especially when you know your economic value?
Prime example is GGG, he can't get nobody to fight him because his opponents want to get paid and so does GGG. Why does GGG get applauded and Jr gets hated? How many of GGG's wins were legit top 5 fighters or especially elite fighters and GGG is on a retirement tour?

Look at all those names only a couple would be available
    GGG waiting for Canelo
    Jacobs available fighting @ 160 and Jr @ 168
Lemieux fighting on Canelo vs JCC Jr undercard 160lber
Abraham just fought on the weekend Jr wants to fight in June/July
    Smith fighting for Vacant strap
    Groves fighting for Vacant strap
    Degale available, doesn't want fight
Ramirez just fought on the weekend Jr wants to fight in June/July
Canelo and JCC Jr fighting each other
    Ndam fighting eliminator
Dirrell both brothers booked 1 has vacant strap fight 1 has eliminator
    Kessler available but yeah right

Eddie and Cox are apparently gagging for this fight and should be called out for it.
Cox is probably the best available cheap option IMO and even though he will get called a bum (even by his fan boys) after Jr smashes him the fight will be entertaining and build hype and interest for Jr which he needs.

If Jr gets big enough he wont be chasing the fights, other fighters will chase him!

I have thought about Hearns angle in offering this clown for free and I'm thinking he might offer the winner Degale next on Sky and if Jr beats Degale, Hearn will have options on Jr as long as he remains a champ which would make him a matchroom fighter. Sounds far fetched maybe but Hearn wouldn't offer Cox for free he would get some value out of it.

James ur saying cox is a bum and jr smashes him so y do u want that. We get it ur a massive fan jrs and the truth is we don't know how good he is.
U say ggg can't get fights. Brook lemuiex and Jacobs's beat anyone on jrs resume within a. Few rounds.

Ur saying cox undefeated his wins all
Domestic because that's he is a domestic fighter so again if Eubank is this great fighter why is he fighting no one didn't they pay quilon like
50 grand lol if he this huge name sells so well why wouldn't ppl fight him??
U say degale don't want it seriously when has he stated this.

Put it this way a gave u alist top my head 5 mins u did research fair enough so u tell me the next two or 3 fighters jr should face ??
Also with jr bein so called Ppv and according to all his team he would wipe out amyone at 160-168. Y not offer a degale Kessler say 1- 2million if he such a big name and so confident and that belief u need to take a hit to become more known. Etc. Ie like maywether did with de la Hoya he was paid far less took gamble as so well known made him a star whereas jr and his team seem want to make demands galore talk shite unwilling fight anyone pulse and parade a ibo belt (wow) like he's won champions league. A don't even dislike guy but he deserve no credit till he fights decent opposition how can u say u a world class fighter u fight domestic fighters all day. He would gain far more fans and get more credit if he faced even 2 decent fighters u slated ggg fights. If he fought ether lemuiex Jacobs or Brook he would be far more well known and respected but he won't it's always an excuse. End day all promoters say he a nightmare and he chooses fight domestic level fighters his only decent name is bjs which he lost Can't constantly make excuses guy or are we all wrong all promoters wrong and all top 10 at 160 and 168 terrified him and ibo is a legit belt and all should fight him for 48 grand and. Let him pick commentary team as well

I have said the reasons I want this fight.

Cox actually looks very good on paper to people who haven't seen much of him, 21-0, with highlight reel ko's. Add Cox being a wildman and this would be PPV gold. It would be a big profile builder, and Hearn and Warren would look like mugs if they called Cox a bum after the fact the way they have previously talked about him. Plus Jr needs a fight and nobody is available.

Hearn also needs to be put in his place about the fighting for free comment, let's see if he backs it up.

If Jr vs Cox did get a bit of a build up and had some PPV success it might make it easier for Jr to get some bigger fights which is what I really want.

Again mate all promoters will big up ther fighters it's ther job. But u sayin kids world class am not saying he isn't by any means but think teeing off on a spike or Blackwell is hardly any proof and mayb the bjs was off nite (personally thought he was too lazy first 4-6 and thought could turn win but same time if was 15 round fight he would have. Stoped him ). No Denying his fitness conditioning exceptional but only take so far.

And to brutal honest what's point and what good do fight Cox as u say is domestic. Give me names the next two guys u would like see him against.

As u clearly a fan why not go after Kessler he is very well known froch wars is well known in Europe and America. Can't see Kessler demanding. Crazy cash ether and even if did want extra take a smaller slice if so confident Kessler no fought long time am big fan his but would rather he stay retired if 5 years ago he school jr now prob lose. But why no tempt him Christ u could even build up using froch name say stop him froch warrior couldn't use the spar say smash froch build it up like crazy and wins can call out froch or degale etc. It's simple am no promoter but my God it's easier build and Sell far more cox would. And process gives him a name on record even Americans etc. Cmon eddie sign me up matchmaker Hahah

If they could get Kessler then that would be great but isn't he going to fight in another super6 type tournnament?

Seems like the Cox fight should be easy to make, get him now before he starts making some demands for cash.
I imagine he will want big bucks after he chin's Fielding in a round and people start thinking he's the next big thing. I saw an interview on IFL TV and Fielding wants no part of Cox, he sounds like he will drop the british strap if he doesn't get retirement money to fight Cox.

Cox, then a Degale/BJS/Groves/Smith/GGG somebodywith a title. Maybe Chudinov beats Groves and then he tries to avenge his brothers loss?

Jr isn't going to 160 unless its for a title it seem's so we are looking @ 168 for the smaller fights

Cox fight be easy make coz he not a big name but no one wants pay see him feasting on guys like quinlan or spike Ano u sayin but take a hit to become big as said Ano it's a diff ball park but mayweather did it oscar. By. Constant feasting bums and not accepting big names he looks as if ducking Got be a reason all promoter say nightmare. Fact is again ggg fight was ther ggg is big name if he so confident why no take fight say he got offfered even sumthing like 600 grand if he so confident take it take risk put. Rematch clause if he wins he gets. 60-40 in rematch even ggg loses and doesn't wnat rematch he has defeated a monster in worlds eyes he's now well know over here brook fight. And am sayin 600 like it's no a lot jesus wuinlan fought for 50 grand or somehin. It's no penny's he gettin. It's ether pure greed or he is scared take on. As said realistic if he took on a ggg or we even just say in uk if he beats c smith degale or groves they will hype life out of it mate And he would get respect but again fightin guys like coz u say Ppv gold a watch he'll lot boxing. A am goin out 10 ppl sat watch fight al tell u now not one will kno cox or want see it. But bet u a few know Kessler coz froch fights ever. When said returning it was all over sky sports. Again imo that's no Ppv fight etehr but jr ridiculous thinks he is he is not until he start fight one or two names Again no hateon on guy but back the talk up it's easy and sense take risk even wort happen he lose look Brook done wonders him. He already lost bjs anyway

James, you said Eubank Jn fought BJS has a novice...but that was his 18th fight and BJS's 21st fight. I appreciate 3 fights can make a big difference at that stage of a fighters career but I think you're stretching the 'novice' label a bit there. BJS wasn't exactly a veteran.

All good points made here, no worries about honest mistake james.

Bin busy all day really so have read your post to me a few posts up James and you do make some good points, but we have both made our opinions clear, now its just a case of when/if the bout gets made who gets proven right or wrong

Twentymans point RE the stage of his career that Jnr fought Bill is a good one, I agree, Jnr was fighting Bill at a stage where he was only 3bouts ahead of Jnrs record, its not Bills fault Jnr was learning on the job, Jnr gave it the biggun, called Bill "average Joe" Saunders and came up short, he was way out of his depth, yes he had a few moments but it was only Bills lack of fitness that started to give Jnr a chance

Alot of divided opinion on this fight lately, although I will admit the majority think CEJ will steam roll Cox but imo I just don't see that being the case

    Time will tell

I'm not exactly a hater of CEJ, he aggravates me though a lot, makes a complete dinlo of himself, standing all brazen in the ring telling GGG he is coming for him and he is going to beat him and all this and that and then when it came down to it he did not deliver, his pen went walkabouts. Jnrs resume and a few vicious sparring sessions and Snapchat videos of him whipping in numerous fast uppercuts and hooks just aren't enough for me, and that IBO "belt" doesn't help his "world level" stance either.

Its not so simple as the number of fights
How many Amateur fights did they have?
How many times had they been 10 rounds?
How many times had they been 12 rounds?
These little things add up and its obvious BJS had been in with better figthers at that stage.
Now their resumes have evened out a bit as BJS has been inactive and Jr has been fighting more regularly.

Jamie Cox had a very decent amateur career and great things were expected of him.
He has a good looking record @ 21-0 and has some great ko's
Cox has also been avoided by a few fighters domestically so you could definitely say he's a dangerous fight.
Warren and Hearn both think he bashes Jr apparently so lets see what he's got.
