Ya Eubank must feel real proud of himself, taking on these clowns, acting like a monster. Pfft. He goes from supposedly fighting GGG to this guy...cmon on.
Still angry about that. The fight wasnt even remotely competitive after about then 5th round and the ref just let Blackwell keep taking a beating.
I don't blame Eubank for what happened to Blackwell, but after seeing how much better he was than a top level domestic fighter shouldn't Eubank have moved on? I can understand him wanting to win the Lonsdale belt outright, but if it genuinely puts the opponents health at a greater risk (more so than a more competitive fight against a better level opponent), then shouldn't he give up on this goal?
:deal It is a prestigious belt in the U.K. so a part of me can see why he wants it. But like you say, he should have fought for it a few years ago at the start of his career. But this is what's wrong with boxing today. There's too many Org's and fighters dont progress like they used to. It should be: regional, British, European, and if a fighter is good enough, World. In my honest opinion, he should not be allowed to fight these types of opponents. He is now clearly a world level fighter. He has to be a top a top 10-20 MW across the board. This is dangerous. You can't have a world class fighter fighting domestic level guys. We've seen him give Billy a great fight 2 years ago having had no experience, and unfortunately we saw what happened with Nick Blackwell. This fight shouldn't be happening.
He's quite clearly above British level, therefore he shouldn't be allowed to hold the belt. We don't want another Blackwell type incident. This is just asking for trouble.
Wrong. Joshua's career is being managed correctly. Eubanks is at a standstill. I'm sure somebody will bring up Joshua getting a title and then fighting contenders afterward but their opinion is irrelevant.
Joshua got a real title but he didn't have to go through a monster to get it. Wlad is an old wounded lion but Joshua didn't even fight him, he fought for a piece hyenas stole from the old lion while he was fighting another young daring upstart. GGG on the other hand is at his prime and the only way to get a legit belt is to fight him, or try to avenge a loss to BJS that seems to quite literally hate Jr.
Eubanks are gross. They will keep saying Golovkin's name regardless of how terribly they handled the first contract offer.
Joshua's management wasn't steering him toward a title shot so not fighting Wlad for it is kind of irrelevant. It was just an opportunity that they decided to snatch up. His level of opposition didn't shift. He's being brought up through the ranks at a steady rate. If anything he sidetracked to a lesser opponent as a trade-off for getting a title. He went right back to building himself up after the title.
