A lot of people go on about Eubank as if he is some all time great but if fact he was never in top 3 of super middleweight division.

He admitted himself he avoided Herol Graham because he was to good.

He had not interest in fighting the best in the division and his best win was against a weight drained Nigel Benn.

People believe the hype rather than actually look at what he has done.

Lots of younger fans today don't realise that at the time he was active many of his wins/draws were mediocre, boring and highly controversial.

His first title defence was against Dan Sherry and he was lucky not to get DQ'ed and was given a very generous points decision.

Yet Sr beat Nigel Benn to win his first world title and in their second fight it attracted 42,000 to Old Trafford and a TV audience of 17 million in the U.K.

    Let's forget beating Watson twice.

Anyway not bad for somebody so overrated :good

Too be fair I loved Eubank growing up but as alleged great fighters go he did fight down to his opponents level at times.

I mean a draw and a SD against Ray ****ing Close ffs

Eubank was a world class fighter, there is no question of that. What stopped him being considered elite was his poor stamina.

He signed an 8 fight deal for 10 million with Sky sports, he also was involved in probably the two best supper / middle weights of all time (Benn 1 & Watson 2)

Yes he had some lacklustre performances, but who hasn't. He was a showman, an entertainer and a world class boxer.

Not overrated at all. He was the full package and had the ability to be our best ever fighter but he was just never the same after the Watson tragedy.

I was a Eubank fan, but a couple of his fights were just as close or controversial as the usual suspects abroad. Still I was as big a fan of his as I was of his nemesis Benn.

He had his huge right hand swing which bailed him out a couple of times, and he wasn't as good of some here believe/pretend he was. Top class MW though

Why not? It's not like we have a long list of legends from this country is it. He was fast, had good footwork, very powerful, iron chin, lion heart and could box and move or have a tear up on the inside.

If you think Benn 1 & Watson 2 were boring maybe boxing isn't the sport for you !
