The Eubanks can bore off now, tired of hearing of there circus act. First fight he's stepped up to world level at, he got beat. He turned down a world title opportunity against Jacobs, to drop back to British title level (who does that? especially when your making yourself out to be a world beater) because he wants to win the prestigious Lonsdale belt outright as it's something his dad didn't do. Agrees to go to purse bids for the Langford fight, the Langford fight is set up, doesn't turn up to any press conference arrangement, pulls out of the fight with an 'injury' and also mentioning that they feel he's above British level........... so if your above British level why turn down the Jacobs fight to take the Blackwell fight to work towards winning it out right? There a pair of walking contradictions, muppets.
Jr is getting savaged on Twitter for dropping out of this British title fight. In fairness if he is injured then he is injured, not his fault, just one of those things. No fighter should fight with serious injury and it would be unrealistic and unreasonable to expect them to. What bothers me is Jr didn't turn up for any pressers and from what I understand was basically being fined by FW for every no show. There was also complaint to the BBBofC about the Eubank's no shows. Also what bothers me is the Eubank's made a huge song and dance about winning the Lonsdale belt outright, they avoided Jacobs, Golovkin and Saunders and claimed they wanted to win this belt outright and now have vacated it. So what happens now? Does he recover from injury and go back to domestic level? He may well want a couple of warm ups after an elbow injury. It's a total mess in my opinion, they have no career plan, no career strategy and have burnt nearly every bridge in British boxing.
I don't understand it at all. Really, it makes no sense. The only explanation I can think of is that both he and his father are very stupid.
His father is the one misguiding his career I'm afraid. JR is just a puppet who is afraid to stand up to his old man, shame because I do believe he is genuinely talented and should be at world level.
I dont really get what the dads trying to do by making the son into the pantomine villain. That was fine for the old man cause he was pretty much unheard of here coming through spent his time in america. I can see it been a good way of promoting himself by becoming the man that people wanted to hate. But in the end chris earned a lot of goodwill with the british fans. He pretty much won over everyones respect. That goodwill would have been put onto his son. They could easily market him positively. Not like eubank juniors useless. Hes a very good entertaining fighter. One thing i will say about the dad is hes bringing him through well in terms of training hard. Testing himself in the gym etc keeping him hungry. Keeping him focused. Can see it paying off. You cant help feeling he could have half the country rooting for him to do well tho instead chooses to alienate him from the fans. Surely he could attract a big following without everyone wanting to see him lose.
Rapidly losing respect for the Eubanks. It seems clear the whole 'we want to fight GGG' is all a publicity stunt- just like when they applied for the Olympics, but waited until after it had been announced that pro's weren't welcome on Team GB. They might want to think twice about this 'all publicity is good publicity' routine because he's already alienated Queensbury, Matchroom and K2, and the kind of comments they are making are going to make TV companies and advertisers steer clear of him.
