Tunney was an outboxer, a toucher, an undersized guy who played the game at distance. He primarily knew how to fight in one mode (and against one kind of opponent). Vander had levels, gears. He could do distance or get in the mid range and throw exquisite combos, or get close and be dirtier than a Sunday hooker. Just because a guy has a jab and bounces a bit doesn't mean he has top level skills.

How many fighters can boast a win over a prime Bowe, draw with Prime Lewis and two wins over a still tough and dangerous Tyson also another two very close losses against Bowe and Lewis, I would personally place this resume only second to Alis

    That's false.
Tunney could fight at mid-range and could throw short punches on the inside when he needed to. He could fight going forward and backward and went to the body too.
Tunney is also the taller man with the longer reach, superior speed and superior ring awareness.
You've clearly never watched his fights.

Dempsey did draw the color line.

I’ll pass on the biting, though.

Dempsey will make Holyfield fight, and this will be a brawl . Dempsey was ferocious and I think he ko's the natural non steroid version of Evander .

Yes, I've clearly never watched his fights. Tell me more about all the heavyweights he fought. Tell me more about the prime 200 plus pound athletes he fought.

And are you suggesting that Tunney is taller than Holy with longer reach? And he only looks fast compared to the errr... complexion of the competition he chose.

He was a fine lightheavyweight, albeit he drew the color line like a mug. He was a nothing at heavyweight.

    Levels you say ?

Well. Holyfield is 1-2 some say 0-3 vs Bowe, 0-2 vs Lewis, 1-1 with Moorer, 1-1-1 vs Ruiz, even with PEd's he could never put together "levels" over other fighters, he was the father of inconsistency........but but Tyson Tyson, Tyson.....

Facing Dempsey is a PED free Holyfield at 190 pounds max and would be almost a feather duster as far as heavyweight punching power is concerned.............even the PED version was a average puncher at best.

This will be a brawl and Dempsey aint Bert Cooper, he will finish the job

in this case the guy who “Has a jab and bounces a bit” (Yikes) is better than the 147lbers we have today.
