I seldom agree with Dino on much of anything. But I think the 90's version of Foreman would have beaten the 2000's sanders. Especially the one who fought Vitali and NOT Wlad. Sanders had been off for 13 months against Vitali, was overweight and clearly diminished. He had some good moments in that fight though. But Foreman's chin, crossed arm defense, punching power and ability to pace himself in his comeback would have worn down Sanders who's chin and stamina were always questionable.

Holyfield, bless him, wanted it. I believe that if the Klitschkos had offered it to him, he would have taken the chance. Holy just didn't know when to quit.

Clearly folks like DINODELUDED celebrate wins over aged fighters as though they were legit. There's more like him in General.

You know Vits would have won but don't actually want to come out and say it. That's OK. A guy like Evander earned his respect the hard way, and there are many people that don't want to pull down a marvellous fighter like him.

Legacy wise Holy > Vitali, I can't really argue that point. Holyfield was like the gold standard of his time, to beat him you had to be in shape and you had to be somebody special. Agree. Vitali beat a long string of "OK" guys ... but when he beat them, he crushed them. Holyfield was exciting because he COULD lose.

 

I may not agree with your post (although I was disappointed as heck when I saw Fatty Sanders pitch for his fight with Vitali) but you set forth a decent and logical argument. That I can respect. Unlike others who can be summed up as "lolz omg Foreman >>> Sanders ydksab lol :0"

And that's exactly what he did.. Just because Charr was kicking and screaming about the outcome at the end of the fight doesn't mean he wasn't getting his ass kicked.. Watch the fourth round. Klit was landing punch after punch, and Char was a bloody mess. One more round of that and it might have ended charr's career completely. You can disagree all you want, but how the hell did you arrive at the conclusion that Vitali " quit" ?

The action was back and forth. Vitali couldn't dodge slow slapping shots to save his life. You can't claim to beat the chit out of somebody when you're taking plenty leather yourself.
Vitali fought on against Lewis with a face that made Charr's cut look like a scratch. Vit was definitely relived when the doctor ended matters.

I don't see how Sanders was in better shape in 2004 than he was a year earlier against Wladimir. He was 10 lbs heavier, had been inactive for 13 months, and had gone back and forth over the previous year about weather or not he was retiring. He certainly didn't look fit against Vitali and was showing marked signs of fatigue by about the fifth round. As for contrasting Sanders to Foreman, about the only thing I agree with is that he still had faster hands. But his footwork was no better than Foreman's at that point. Both guys were planted in the mud at that stage in their careers. And as for power? Debatable, but I think George still had a bit more snap. Foreman's defense, chin, pacing, power and style is what I'd use to favor him. Sanders might have taken some of the early rounds on points, but as the contest went on, I can see Corrie wearing down while Foreman's thudding shots to the body and head begin to take their toll. A TKO somewhere between rounds 7-9 is what I'd anticipate.

 

Only two things matter here.

1. Charr got his ass kicked convincingly.

2. Vitali didn't quit.

 

Charr stated live on German television that he received compensation the the premature stoppage. Vitali told his doctor to end matters as he was knackered.

 

Are you still claiming Vitali quit against Charr or that he wasn't noticably winning?
