No need for the long post, really: 1. Mayweather has the skill level to develop a greater resume. He's a top 50 ATG but will be a wasted talent as he could have been better by taking big fights. Ray Leonard did pick and choose but he did fight them all...Duran, Benitez, Hearns etc. 2. Mayweather hardly ever fights, so for the top man in the division we want to see him face better opponents.
I think Floyd showed he handpicks more when he brought up testing with Manny. The fight pretty much didn't happen because of Floyd and his demands. And to be honest, I think he would have beaten Manny. If only Floyd had the confidence of a Hagler or Hearns, he could have been one of the greatest ever with his skills. Along the lines of Sugar Ray Leonard. But as it is, he is not close.
Not only does he cherry pic he is also very boring to watch..he runs and pot shots all day.. The guy is boring and always dodges guys at there peak..
His fans are actually saying how Floyd Mayweather would beat them all middleweights and meanwhile he is fighting Robert Guerreros of the World.
I take that back - Marquez was an absolute mismatch from the get go (but Floyd was coming off almost 2 yr. layoff)
See I agree with this. At some point in the fight,PBF figures the guy out, and then pecks and pokes to a `safe` victory. The SRL`s, Hearns, SRR`s etc, once they knew they had a guys #, they went after it. It wasn`t just the victory that mattered but how dominat and exciting they would make the victory... You could say that Floyd fights his opponents the way he picks them, very carefully and selective...
And he did and now it wasnt a good win and didnt mean crap right atschatsch Typical Mayweather haters, get a life Iceman!!
It's true that fighters will take easy fights but they also get around to facing their big threat(s): Rigondeaux-Donaire Duran-Leonard/Hagler Leonard-Hearns Garcia-Matthysse Wlad-Haye Ward-Froch/Kessler Toney-Jones Ali-Foreman/Frazier Holyfield-Tyson/Lewis/Bowe
