The sad thing is if he was facing Vlad or Vitali who are a mere 6'7 ish they the coverage would be halfed! Am very interested in the PPV numbers tho. At work on Wed/Thu folk talking bout getting the fight on PPV now they talking bout other plans for Sat so a lot of the interest is just as long as its free and in the papers. I think its gonna be well recieved by the boxing fans and sports fans but alot of folk just like talking abuot whats in the papers and being part of something but they wont shell out.
I think the coverage for a Vitali fight would be very big. They would lean on the Lennox Lewis angle. If I was talking to someone about Haye vs Klitschko, and mentioned a brother, they would simply say..... I didn't know there were two Klitschkos!
It's getting loads of hype from non-boxing fans alright. Haye is marketable enough and the fact that Valuev is huge is creating plenty of interest.
I really hope Haye knocks this freak out , he is there for the taking. My only worry is Haye's fitness.
To be honest the fight sells itself in as much as the whole David Goliath angle - its a promoters dream. Kudos to Haye and his team though for getting him on Paul O grady, Question Of Sport etc - just hope it hasn't distracted him from the job at hand. I keep having to tell people at work, in the pub etc that the super six the other week and a certain fight next week are bigger fights in the boxing world, theyre having none of it though.
I must have heard everyone in the office today talk about this fight and they never talk about boxing. They were all going on about how Valuev was 7'4"
The commentator on Leicester Tigers v South Africa used it as a metaphor earlier too - good to see Sky commentators towing the line.
