You’re wasting your time, mate. I (not anymore but used to tweet jokes years ago) along with plenty of other comics used to post jokes on twitter. What you want is for them jokes to get liked/retweeted so you could build your profile. What ended up happening is these parody accounts (with a much bigger following) and what not, tweeting the joke as if it were their own and thus getting the credit. So I totally get why it can be frustrating for people to get a scoop and Benson just taking it. The example above with Khan...if he’d just put their twitter handle on that tweet it would have been absolutely fine.
Yeah he only actually started putting people Twitter handle because he got called out multiple times, now he is more selective and sly with it. Why doesn't he just quote the tweet? We all know why he doesn't because he want the plaudits.
Coming from the guy who labelled Frank Warren’s offer to Smith to fight Saunders as a publicity stunt when they publicly welcomed a counter offer which never came. The Hearn fanatics on here are comically biased yet try to take the high ground by belittling others. Pissant behaviour really.
Lol. I spent 10 minutes on google and ESPN, Sky and BBC, among others, all had the same report. None credited that twitter. Why not? Because they are all unethical journalists? No, because as noted in reports (and Benson’s tweet), fight organizers ANNOUNCED the news. They told the press to get the word out. That’s not breaking news. It’s a press release, which literally means they released it to the press to be used. That’s why the original report said it was official and Benson said it was announced. Bad case of confirmation bias here.
Exactly, still waiting for this example but I have a funny feeling it’s not gonna come. Just somebody to pick on for no reason.
That's because the official announcement followed about 2 hours later and then it's all fair game as you say. Benson wanted to make it seem like he was in the know. He is a known content thief. You said he breaks fights more than anybody, he doesn't. Next time he does, do a simple Twitter search and you will see for yourself.
To the people who put in the work and break it, yes it does. edit: These guy travel up and down the country trying to make pennies in the game delivering great content That is clearly taken for granted in here, whilst Benson sits there refreshing Twitter.
Then aren’t we gonna have a go at all the other people who broke the announcement? When does it become alright to announce a fight that’s been announced? Just all seems pointless picking on this fella.
They’re not a***d about the point, mate. It’s perfectly fine for a fella who works for a media company to scour the net (particularly social media) and echo journalists hard work without credit because it’s a nice easy account for everyone to follow. It’s really really difficult to be a nobody who’s desperate for a break, and when you do dig out and release good material, others with a much bigger profile than you just take it as their own. These people who studied media or whatever at Uni who have never wrote anything remotely creative in their lives, and they get themselves writing jobs at the likes of the BBC or other major media outlets. They leach off the little creative people with absolutely no credit in return. I say this with genuine (bitter) experience. Plagiarism has become almost acceptable. We don’t care as long as it’s convenient for our access to information.
Watch what happens when you plagiarise them though or call them out. Like what's happened on this thread!
What relevance does welcoming a counter offer have to the question of whether the offer was made to generate publicity? As to your second point, somewhat ironic that you begin and end your complaint over others behaviour with an insult.
You’ve immediately dismissed an attempt by Warren and his fighter to make a fight with a Hearn fighter as a publicity stunt when it was clearly a genuine attempt to secure a fight, bearing in mind it was a 50/50 offer and they’ve asked for a counter offer instead of a straight refusal. Yet you are insinuating that anyone here who doesn’t wax lyrical about Hearn has an agenda. Who exactly has the agenda here? You then cry about the insult when in your original post you’ve tried to belittle me and others here by inferring that we are childlike.
