He was slower but much stronger and more powerful for the rematch. Oscar really disrespected Mosley's power in their first fight and appeared to be the bigger puncher in that one. Mosley seemed to hit harder in the second fight, and got a second wind after being tooled for the first 7 rounds. I scored it 8-4 Oscar, but Mosley won 4 of the last 5 rounds to me. I think the roids gave him the stamina he needed to stage a late surge. If he wasn't on the juice, he probably would not have hit as hard or still had gas late in the fight, in my opinion.

 

Leonard is the most versatile and adaptive fighter of the modern era.
Watch how he fought Benitez,Duran 1,Kalule,Green,Duran 2,and most of all Hagler and you'll see how comfortable he is flat footed,brawling,fighting on the back foot and as a dancing slickster(which he wasn't really,despite the misconception.
SJS's recent thread on SRL-Hagler made me rewatch and I was stunned at the tactical brilliance of Leonard in round 4.

Berto Vs. Guerrero was the first example that came to my mind. However, not really knowing Berto's style prior to the fight I didn't want say that with any strong conviction. I'm definitely going to look up the Oscar/Mosley fights. Out of interest how did Berto fight before Guerrero?

 

I just watched that old ESPN programme where Tommy said he knew he was ill in the dressing room and knew his only option was to do just as you've said mate.
Even said he was relieved when it was stopped.

Macklin said he was gonna brawl and come forward like he normally does instead he tried to box

i think a better example is gonzales vs carvajal. the fearsome slugger turns pure boxer after geting knocked out in the first fight and outclasses his boogie man.

 

Oh, I've heard about what Tommy was like before the fight. It wasn't Hagler's style to come charging at guys like he did vs. Hearns though. That was what was uncharacteristic about the fight; Hagler made it into a brawl rather than a boxing match (regardless of whether or not Tommy was well enough to box or not, he would have been forced to brawl with Marvin; Marvin has said he knew he couldn't outbox Tommy, and wanted to try and blast him quickly.)
