Tyson was probably more than 190 but he did look a bit thin when he came out of prison in 1995. I suspect he was in the 200 - 210 range, which is a good weight to be for him. Better than coming out heavy.
I remember an interview he gave in '94 he said he was 214.

Yet he wasn't overweight when he arrived in Tokyo for the Douglas fight, can't be easy admitting your hero was beaten by the better fighter I suppose.....

Buster Douglas was a fat f**k between fights anyway. Not only between fights either, he was fat in his fights.
Then his mum died, and he got sick a week or two before the fight, so I've never understood how people make all these excuses for Tyson. You know, sh!t happens, you can't expect to have 100% perfect preparation every time.
Douglas wasn't even a great fighter. If Tyson was as great as people think then he would have beaten Douglas and would not have to be 100% to do so. That's common sense.
Truth is, Douglas fought a smart and fearless fight, and Tyson's reputation was a bit inflated.
It was a good fight anyway.

It was simply a case of one guy being at his absolute best and the other guy being at his absolute worst

You would say he was at his worst seeing as though he got his ass kicked....

Maybe you should tell that to Foxy 01. He's the one claiming Tyson never gained weight between fights. Read the previous posts on this thread.

It takes a man to take that kind of ass kicking for ten big rounds where he took every punch in the book to the face and they weren't feather punches either.

Tyson gained no more weight than most heavyweights though. You're talking like he's the only fighter in history to put timber on.

True he took his ass kicking like a man but that doesn't prove Tyson was at his worst does it?

Tyson definitely gained quite a bit of weight between fights. Certainly after the Spinks fight, because his schedule slowed down then.
He was fat when he went to trial in 1992. I think that magazine cover with "Guilty" on the cover - might have been Sports Illustrated - epitomizes the bulky out-of-training Tyson of that era.

    Yeah, here it is :

He was probably nowhere near that bad in 1989 though, but getting towards it.

Why not? It absolutely does, the fact it was the first time he took such a beating in his life confirms that a lot of things were missing in his performance that night.

Yeah, maybe the thing that was missing in his past victories was Buster Douglas...

Just like he was missing against Carl Williams in one of Tyson's most devastating performances?

I felt the Williams fight was stopped prematurely, he should have been allowed to continue.
