James Toney was classed as the best fighter in the world, lb4lb, bar none. He would've beaten Jones if he was in-shape.

    That made me laugh

    :good

How did Dariusz try to fight Roy for six years?

This is as stupid as Joe's ridiculous claims of chasing him for six years.

    Here's Dariusz's resume again:

    Of course he wanted him.

You think Dariusz wanted to fight Roy?

His resume doesn't agree with your opinion.

    bailey,

    What are you talking about?

If he'd have decided to have moved up to LHW, the WBO would have made him the number 1 contender to have fought whoever held the belt at that point.

    Same old, same old.

He may have had a better career.

    They were exactly the same.

Hill hadn't fought Dariusz when Roy moved up. Roy couldn't have known who he was or wasn't going to fight. I'm looking from his perspective in October, 1996. He was unable to unify at SMW, so his choices were either to remain and to see what would have happened in the future, or to move up to LHW. He chose the latter.

Joe was in the same predicament. But instead of going to LHW, with a straight shot at the WBO champ, he stayed and fought Mitchell, Mkrtchyan, Veit and Ashira etc.

    :patsch

Look who he fought INSTEAD of those potential fights? Those guys may not have been available in 2003, but they may have been the following year. It was better than fighting the likes of Kabary Salem. Again, Joe would have been made the mandatory to whoever held the WBO belt at LHW. It would have been better to have held the WBO, LHW belt, than the WBO, SMW belt in 2004.

    What?

So Dariusz claimed he wanted Roy through the press?

    Wow!

He got his manager to offer Roy terms to go to Germany, even though Roy had made it abundantly clear that he didn't want to go?

Dariusz was willing to go to the U.S.? What, because he SAID so?

    A duck is a duck?

Go and look at who Roy fought before negotiations.

Go and look who at who he fought after negotiations.

Now do the same for Dariusz.

    His resume speaks volumes.

    He was the Polish Calzaghe.

He obviously thought that Britain wasn't corrupt like Germany was.

With regards to travelling, it all depends what the circumstances are.

    Again, everyone's circumstances are different.

Roy held the three main belts at LHW, during negotiations with Dariusz.

A guy with three main belts, doesn't go to Germany to fight the WBO champ.

Rico thinks that Roy's win over Ruiz was completely meaningless.

So do you seriously think he'd have given Roy credit for beating Roch, or a faded version of Benn?

    Yeah, right.

    Who cares about other people?

This is a thread regarding Roy.

So if you're objective, you look from his perspective.

He got robbed in the Olympics, like others have.

He saw Dariusz roll around the floor after Roch had TAPPED him.

He held all of the MAJOR belts.

Yet you expected him to put those on the line, up against Dariusz's WBO, in Germany?

    Why?

    There you go then.

    An always very basic Roch.

So what's the big deal that Roy didn't fight him?

    Joe did look great.

It's a shame he wasn't in the mix with Eubank, Benn, Watson and Collins etc.

The big deal is that he won Jones's vacant belt after beating the guy Jones vacated it not to fight. He had to fight and beat G.Rocchi to prove who was the real champion out of the two.

    And all respect to Chris.

But I wouldn't expect any fighter to fight a guy in Germany, who had famously cheated a few years earlier, putting his three main belts up, against the WBO.

I'm sure you've seen their sparring session from 1991?

    Holmes was strong.

Roy was only 22, and he fought at JMW that year.

If you haven't seen it, here it is:
