That's just a comment, that didn't seem to impose any limitations on this matchup. Whatever LaMotta was, he was draining weight severely to fit himself into 160 lbs limit. His natural weight can easily be tracked by fights where he didn't have to make certain weight limit.
Lamotta was 5'8 and he most certainly was a natural MW. He was a LHW because he ate himself there. Jake had all kinds of issues you know.
He wasn't "draining weight" because he had a LHW frame. He was draining weight because he ate like a pig for too long and then had to lose it quickly. I suppose James Toney is a natural Heavyweight?
As I already said, his natural weight is obvious from looking at his record. Between 165 and 170 is where he belongs. James Toney was a natural light heavyweight.
You are confusing "walking around weight" and/or "didn't train hard enough weight" with "natural weight". Right now I'm 177 lbs, I'm in good shape. Good shape isn't fighting shape. My division is middleweight, which is 160. To get into fighting condition, I'd have to lose 17 pounds, which I'd do... unless I was lazy and continued to feast on oreo cookies, like I am now. James Toney was NOT a natural light heavy. James Toney had an eating disorder. He was a natural MW. SMW -tops.
A comment my arse. It aims the match at 160 which is where it is reasonable to discuss. Every dickhead knows 175 Charles is murder for Jake and it wouldn't even be worthwhile discussion. Lamotta fought mostly at 160 and was extremely effective there, get over it. He's universally known as a middleweight, except to just you.
