Have justified what I believe to be a relatively poor performance tonight by saying 'A big man like that was always going to pose problems".

In order to restore some consistency, do these same people acknowledge that Haye faced a similar problem against Valuev? This fight, to my astonishment, is always referenced by Haye's detractors as if to discredit him.

You have to consider the manner in which each guy fought their opponent. Haye hardly "fought" Valuev and Valuev isn't the puncher Grant is. Would you also agree that that Haye win was controversial. Adamek's win itself wasn't (although some think the scores were too wide by a round or two)

 

I tend to think Valuev was a much tougher opponent than the version of Michael Grant we saw fight your countryman tonight, Pummler.

 

Yes and no. Valeuv is a very awkward guy to fight, no doubt, but Nikki doesn't punch his weight. Grant does.

 

How much tougher...i mean Haye didnt do anything that Holyfield,Donald,Ruiz and Chagaev hadnt already done before him and in more impressive fasion that Haye's stinkfest.

 

Absolutely not. I think I credited Valuev with maybe three rounds during the entire fight. He didn't really land anything telling or noteworthy in those rounds, Haye just didn't throw anything himself. I find the idea of people scoring that fight for Valuev unbelievable. It keeps me up at nights. Seriously.

I also think Haye's opponent was more credible than the shot version of Grant we all watched telegraph all of his punches tonight. His performance was lackadaisical, I couldn't believe the fight would actually become competitive after several rounds. It was almost like Grant had forgotten how to box, altogether. He was being out-jabbed by Adamek. :huh

 

Do you consider the versions of Chagaev, Donald, Holyfield, Bidenko that fought Valuev (a better version of Valuev) better than Haye then?

But you do admit the alot did have it as controversial?

 

Largely irrelevant considering Nikki didn't land a clean, solid punch the entire 12 rounds of his fight with David Haye.

 

I honestly don't see what this has to do with what we are discussing. Indulge me, please.

 

You all need to keep in mind that the Valuev that faced Haye was the equivalent of 80 years old due to his size. :deal

 

He didn't really throw much either though, did he? Nikki is pretty much at the end of the line. Haye really did not do a lot more than Holyfield did.

I had Adamek winning almost every round. He easily outboxed Grant. Grant hits much harder than Haye.
