Really surprised by the posts in here. I would have Froch as winner by complete destruction. Not sure where the Cleverly hype comes from. He's decent but certainly not exceptional. Froch by KO inside 7. And Carl doesn't exactly knock many people out these days.
Froch is harder to hit than he looks. I also think he has more power and a better chin than Clev. I really dont see how with his style clev could beat Froch.
I see your point. I'm not saying it wud be a beatdown but Froch would win comfortably in my opinion. Cleverly just cant really be judged right now as as I said before he hasnt fought nobody of any note whatsoever.
The way I see it, is how would Cleverly get on against the top LHW fighters? I think he'd give a good account of himself against all of them. I wouldn't see him getting completely dominated against anyone. His work rate, long reach and fast hands make him, on paper, a tough fight for anyone. His defence is very suspect, but he appears to have a decent chin. Then we have Froch stepping up in weight to take on a natural LHW. His power has been found out somewhat, at the top end of SMW. There's no doubt he hits pretty hard, but I think people thought he was more powerful than he actually is. Would he be more powerful up in weight? Would he be slower? Would the wars be catching up with him? There's positives and negatives on both sides which is why I see it as a good match up.
Dont understand the whole Cleverly untested theme tbh, Murat was a great win - (beaten Campillo, Sanavia, karpency, and just ko'd the reasonable Otis Griffin). British European Commonwealth and a plastic WBO champ at 24, was Froch even a pro at 24?? Dont get me wrong Froch has operated at a completely different level thus far but the boy Clev is still so underated its unreal. Sure he is a little reckless but if thats his majopr fault hardly something he cant correct quite easily.
Cleverly is being way underated at present but thats good for him , i think Froch vs Cleverly will be an absolute stormer of a fight probably a fight of the year candidate due to their style, they both can box at a distance but both have a tendancy to go for a brawl.
what? and froch isnt open??? this fight will be a 50/50 fight due to style, cleverly has the stamina and workrate, froch the experience and heart , both have a slack defence, both can box when they want too this would be a true pick em
It seems like some are looking at Carl and his superhuman (bit strong?) resume and looking at Clev and his liquorice belt and jumping to conclusions. Clev's style is wrong for Froch - If Nathan has been eating his leeks he will take the decision.
