I'd love to see something like this right now, hopefully on Saturday night domestic TV, really get people talking and watching exciting fights again. There's a fair few to choose from, all around the same level so should be competitive, I reckon it'd forge some great rivalries and pick up new boxing fans, especially if they all had home and away fights. They could fight three months apart, staggered every month, giving time for both rest and a new camp before each new opponent while keeping the fighting regular enough to keep casual fans engrossed. My six would be Fury, Dallas, Towers, Price, Olabumiwo and Chisora. A couple of years of pick 'em fights like that would do wonders for British boxing. I wish I knew more about ITV's budgets to be able to talk about the realitites of it being on ITV like the old days. But as a purely fictional half-cut bit of boxing chat, who would you back to win it? Or who would you change in the line-up or format?
Im getting a bit bored with the tournement obsession...its good if the fighters aren't going to fight without it, but i'd rather see the bouts without the added pressures of a tourney format. You're right tho, exciting fights to be made, so lets just start making them!!!
It seems all the rage though (the tournament format), and it'd probably mean a guaranteed income for them for the duration too. Plus it'd remove a lot of possible excuses for not fighting each other. I struggle to pick a winner. Chisora impressed me at Birmingham, I like the look of Towers, Dallas has a bit about him, Larry is a beast, Fury could beat the lot if he gets his head right.
I think the Super 6 has proven how difficult these things can be to run tho. I like big Larry, be interesting to see him up against Fury.
Yeah in reality it'd be tough of course. I don't think Chisora is too far above the likes of Fury and Larry to be without danger of losing a bout though, I think it's a fairly even playing field, and all these fighters would grow so much during it.
i can see were your coming from, but a lot of big fighters aren;t as game as there smaller counterparts, they don;t like to much competition, the prospects are over protected, and most of the journeymen are undertrained and over fed, chisora v fury is a good fight, i can understand chisora opting for a nice payday, but he will never be the same after a k brother, hell, take a real hiding, and that goes for any other of the british heavy contenders.
