Burns will beat Cook all day long.

Sadly it will not be infront of a capacity crowd, his last outing at Breahead you were lucky if 2500 people were there.

If he was a big ticket seller he would be the MAIN EVENT and fighting bigger name.

theres no logic to what your saying.

I think it's worth noting that Burns wasn't built up with the sort of hype that the likes of Kevin Mitchell were. Mitchell had about 5 years of undeservedly being touted as the next big thing and building up a fan base who didn't know boxing well to watch him knock about sub par opposition and look amazing.

Burns was the best ticket seller in Scotland probably a part from Scott Harrison and showed that when he went and fought Alex Arthur in Arthur's back yard in what was an arena full of Burns fans. But at this point it was just the loyal coatbridge contingent following their local boy and enjoying a night out on the ****

He really hasn't had the full benefit of being promoted by Frank Warren and the opportunity to build a big fan base because he rose from obscurity to become a world champion very quickly. Hopefully Warren will give him the right opponents to draw the fans and promote him to the public well enough.

He's a fighter with a lot of heart who will fight anyone at the end of the day, he's the type of fighter we all love.

I totally agree with this. My has always been if Burns was a bigger ticket seller he would be in bigger fights.

Burns is gonna be a slow process because he went for domestic small hall/undercard fighter to world champion over night.

Once Burns builds, is selling out the Braehead for routine defences you will see him in bigger fights. Until then he will be kept on cards with ticket sellers in other citys and the Scotland shows must not be making cash.

I agree 100% Rob,although i think the kelvin hall arena should have been used for the last 2 defences imo even using the 4k capacity hall for the next fight.

I think billy is trying his best to big up ricky burns who without doubt is a pure gent but there not a venue in scotland boxing that can hold 17000 unless we are talking open air . now with regards the best ticket seller it has always been that the scottish public supported the top boxer like scot harrison alex arthur ricky burns kevin anderson kevin mcintyre willie limond lee mccallister and so on now I do agree that they will support ricky all the way also ricky has been promoted by frank warren for about 5 years but is managed by alex morrison hence the reason he got his first chance of a title fight against frank warren boxer AA now I dont think ricky himself would mis call any boxer so why should anyone else ps mk100 the meadowbank show was a sell out but it only held 2000
and I no that gary young was a big ticket seller in edinburgh

I think Ricky sold a little over a thousand tickets for that fight which for a 13 fight novice is pretty damm good considering he wasn't that well known.

Yes burns and young sold that night out, AAA im told has only ever sold 150 tickets for any show? I just feel Braehead was the wrong arens, kelvin hall is more central and appropriate for the fights rickys havig at the moment.

you are right Billy, the braehead is the wrong arena: kelvin hall is much more appropriate and just look at the atmosphere generated for the martinez fight!

just one problem Frank has...Kelvin Hall is a dry venue and the alcohol sold at braehead helps with the profits...

    yeh whats the letter.

although i would favour burns to be nicky cook it would be wrong to just write cook off. the guy was british, commonwealth and european champion has only lost at world level.

I think nicky cook is on the way out as he is just short being a top boxer like the post says he get beat when he fights the best boxers which I believe Ricky Burns is at the moment he has matured into a top class boxers who wont be pushed around which has come with winning the title and the belief he is the best . Now I think billy nelson has shown he has the tactical no how to help ricky and has also proven to be a very good coach so this is a very good combination. so the biggest problem up hear in Scotland is a venue that can accomadate a very large crowed apart from open air the biggest is braehead with 5000 now the kelvin hall only holds 3000 yet 20 miles from coatbridge is a very big venue Ingleston which can hold 25000 but costs a fortune so would need to be sold out and also it is in the edinburgh area which wont suit glasgow supporters . so as boxing about making money along with winning titles I think ricky should fight at venues where they make him and his promoter the most money like manchester
