Burns is far from overrated, He/Waren/Nelson frustrate the **** out of me though, the whole 'Burns wants to fight the best and unify the division' is nonsense IMO, If Ricky really wanted to fight the best he would have turned down the Laryea, Evenson, Cook and Mitchell fights, and before anyone replies with 'Ricky doesn't pick who he fights, his promoter does' that's true but Ricky and his management have the option of turning down fights and could easily ask Frank to find better opponents, they seem content with picking hand picked opponents. Mitchell is totally overrated, plus he's a little twat as well, really dislike the lad.
I think you are being unfair. Kevin Mitchell is Ricky's mandatory. Ring magazine have Mitchell ranked 4, Dan Rafael ranks Mitchell high. Dan wants to see this fight, most people want to see the fight.
Kevin isn't Ricky's mandatory has far as I'm aware,I hear broner got made that last week even though he failed to make weight and got stripped?
Billy, how possible is a fight with Broner? What difficulties would have to be overcome to make it happen?
Billy's comment that harrison v murray would face Ricky speaks volumes IMO. Either Billy doesn't recognise Ricky's level above these guys or he just wants easy paydays. He is world champ and needs to fighting at elite level.
Burns, a proven world class fighter, is overrated but Mitchell isn't? I think you're all confused here mate, especially if you think he's stopping Burns!
It makes me laugh how people are conned into thinking a boxer is better than he actually is, especially when a boxer is beaten up and then comes back with some mediocre performances against mediocre opposition. Harrison, Mitchell, Haye etc....
If burns beats Mitchell then goes on to face Harrison or Murray then I'm afraid that would be a huge backwards step for Burns. Broner over in America to see how good Ricky really is after the Mitchell fight. (I don't rate Broner that highly but it will give Ricky some excellent exposure, a nice payday and it's a very winnable fight)
Yes, yes, yes, everything you've stated is true, especially the bracketed part. Jim Lampley has already mentioned Ricky Burns, Burns is in his prime, on great form, and should he go over to America and give the MUCH hyped Broner hell, his will be a name mentioned as THE best lightweight in the world
