Carl Froch No explanation needed really. Charismatic, tough, exciting fighter who is not scared of mixing it up with the best fighters around him. The more Carl Froch's we have in boxing, the better. Ricardo Mayorga How could anyone not like Mayorga? Always fights the best, always gives his all, a fast, wild, bat**** crazy man who has become one of the most unpredictable fighters of all time. The only thing to rival his action in the ring are his press conferences. Juan Manuel Marquez An amazing fighter to watch. A simply outstanding technician. He always comes to fight aswell, how many wars have we seen this guy in? And at the age of 37, he's still combination punching the **** out of guys 10 years his junior, in their primes. You could never tire of watching a guy like this. Just amazing. Giovanni Segura A really exciting fighter, with a great attitude to boot. Worked hard to make it to the top, and his coming out party was spectacular. I can't wait to see more of him. I think he has the makings of a terrific champion. Steve Cunningham Who else in boxing travels to the darkest corners of the globe on a fightly basis, fights the best champions and contenders in their hometowns, and almost always comes out on top? This guy should be an example for every fighter. Mayweather could learn a thing or 2 from USS. A skilled and dedicated fighter with amazing conditioning. The new pride of Philly. I also like; Paul Williams Joseph Agbeko Nonitio Donaire Tim Bradley Robert Guerrero
Kelly Pavlik: I'll just issue a challenge. Watch the Zuniga fight, the McKart fight, the Zertuche fight, the Miranda fight, and the two Taylor fights back to back, and then come back here and tell me you're not a Pavlik fan. Furthermore I do not believe we've seen the last of or the best of Kelly Pavlik. Miguel Cotto: Fears no man. I first saw Cotto when he fought Mallinagi, and came away from that fight a huge fan of both guys. Antonio Margarito: In spite of the losses and the scandals this man is still in the game, and still wants to fight the best fighters available. Carl Froch: I started out as a rabid Froch hater, and ended up a fan. In the Taylor fight Froch hung in there and got the win under circumstances where a lesser man would have shut down emotionally and accepted the loss. He's just a hell of a fighter. David "The Destroyer" Lopez: Yes, he has a bunch of losses, but so what. He hasn't lost since his barn burner with Zuniga in January 2005. He now has 16 straight wins, and has been in The Ring top 10 at 160 FOR YEARS! This man is easily the most under rated and under appreciated fighter in the entire world. He has held regional and 2nd tier titles from 154 to 175, and fights anybody, anytime, anyplace on almost any amount of notice, and yet, he has never had a shot at a world title. Maybe I'll add a few more later, but nobody wants to read a 5 page post, so that's it for now.
I just think that if he moved to heavyweight he would be better than Chambers, Johnson, Arreola and the like.
Miguel Cotto - I became a Cotto fan back when he was a bodysnatching terminator at 140, his display against Bailey, his destruction of Pinto, his war with Torres.... among many others, before I knew it Cotto was one of my favs. Manny Pac - Really doesnt need any explination. He comes to fight, and give the fans what they want. I have taken issue with his opponents as of late, but hopefully after Mosley he will be back on track. Pac is just about everything I could want in a fighter. Carl Froch - Kinda didnt like Froch at first, but hes won me over. Balls of steel, and despite having every reason to fail (hes not fast, hes not some huge power puncher, his skills are below average imo) he prevails time and time again based off his intangebles. I love it. Adamek - How can someone not like Adamek. Hes a warrior that comes to lay it all on the line time in and time out. Not only that, but hes good enough not to just leave 175, but to succeed at cruiser, and now, have success as a HEAVYWEIGHT... Will probably go down as one of my all time favs. Paul Williams - What a fighter. He doesnt care who he fights, or where he fights them. And he is at his happiest bringing the fight to them in a mesh of violence. Ya, he just suffered a horrible ko loss, but what shouldnt be forgotten is he was, and hopefully still is, a dominant force from 147 to 154. I would still pick him over a lot of the bigger names there and hopefully he can get some name fights here in the future. Sergio Martinez - Really dont have to explain. Is everything someone could want in a boxing champion. Morales Mayorga Ouma Theres so many more, Wlad, Vitali, Kirkland, Hopkins, Pascal, Cunningham, and others.... but I have to pick some time to stop so it will be now
Pacman. He is as likeable as they come, the Jackie Chan of boxing! So I give him a pass for not taking on the toughest opponents. It is all the greedy Arums fault :fire. Froch. He looks like a bar room brawler, and he talks like one, and he comes out swinging and he ducks no one. And best of all: soon he will hopefully face the adversity of boxing, Andre "The terror of head butting" Ward. Wlad. Because he is big, east european and hits like a truck. And now, with his family pride as stake, he will hopefully beat David Haye to a pulp.
Manny Pacquiao: Nothing more to say on what's already been said. Yeah he's not fighting the best right now but he's still active. Sergio Martinez: Exciting to watch with great athletic qualities and very unique style. One of the best late bloomers to come around. Nonito Donaire: The complete package. He has everything that you would ask for. Entertaining to watch and a fighter the filipinos should look up to. Juan Manuel Marquez: Absolute warrior added with boxing skills, smarts, and heart. Still one of the best boxers right now. Miguel Cotto: How can you not like him? He's not the beast he once was but he's still a hell of a fighter. Amir Khan: A lot of people hate him (I used to) but he's earned my respect for fighting a huge puncher. He's vastly improved with Roach. I think you can see a little of Pacquiao when he fights. Michael Katsidis: A fighter who reminds me of the late Arturo Gatti. Flawed but fun to watch. Yuriorkis Gamboa: Exciting to watch, flashy and athletic that reminds me of Roy Jones. Juanma Lopez: Also exciting like Gamboa. Good boxing skills and power with a questionable chin. Carl Froch: A fighter who has balls of steels and is willing to face everyone. B-Hop: Amazing how a boxer his age is still doing very well. Still has all the tools to school the younger folks. He's not as exciting to watch as before but he still shows fine skills. Other mention: Floyd Mayweather: He's not active at the moment but he is brilliant in the ring. I don't like his antics outside the ring but he's still a great boxer.
This is probably my top 5.. Manny Pacquiao: Should be self-explanatory.. The guy is a ****in' beast. Nonito Donaire: Great fast, slicker boxer who can switch it up.. A rising star who might just have made the wrong move by signing with GBP.. Sergio Martinez: It's hard not to like the guy.. Very smart and slick boxer with great talent in his late 30's doing what most younger guys can't.. Very impressive victories over Dzinziruk, Williams and Pavlik.. Amir Khan: Most people may not like him, but I believe he's a very good boxer who can unify the divison.. May not have the greatest chin in the world, but he makes up with speed and skill.. I can only see him getting better.. Bernard Hopkins: The guy is getting old and shot and he's still doing his thing.. Hopkins is always entertaining in the ring and was one of the very best in the last decade.. Honorable Mentions: Jorge Linares Miguel Cotto Mikkel Kessler Tomasz Adamek Marco Huck Mercito Gesta Drian Francisco Milan Melindo Vanes Martirosyan
