Guys like McKinney and Gatti. Basically boxer-puncherd that got dragged into a brawls all the time. I guess someone like Erik Morales is a perfect example. Mine is probably Joey Giardello.
One thing, when Giardello boxed...in peak form, it was all boxing and no brawling at all. He brawled frequently in the 50's when he was earning his degree as Master Boxing Wizard in the infamous "School of Hard Knocks", but he earned his doctorate by the early 60's, used his head and just boxed, boxed, boxed Dick Tiger and Rubin Hurricane Carter in his two greatest performances.
I get that man. Joey at his best was an absolute pleasure to watch and a phenom in the ring with a huge boxing brain! But when he was making a name for himself and still learning, he got into tear ups with one of my all time favs. Gil Turner! I love that fight man
Wow! Some of those Zaragoza fights are amazing....love me some real deal and el terrible too. Holy vs Rahman and Morales vs Chavez are very underrated imp
What would you call your boy Gavilan? He doesn’t really fit into any category, as I see it. A feather fist with an iron chin that boxed with smooth style and swarmed with frenetic aggression.
