In my eyes there are either fundamental(extreme) Muslims and inactive muslims. If it comes down to the nitty gritty, and all hell breaks loose, where the nations confront fundemental islam, those inactive muslims in their respective nations are not going to side with their country and fellow-men but rather follow the ways of islam. For those muslims who decided to fly out to syria, they would have had to have considered ''moderate' before, otherwise joining Islamic state would not have appealed to them. There isn't a myriad of different Christian terror groups spreading violence and fear across the globe otherwise yes I would expect clergymen and church goers to protest against such things. And lets not forget the muslims are not shy in carrying out mass protests when they feel they are being marginalised. That is why there is the old and new testament. Neither is there direct verses advocating murder of non believers, stoning, sharia law. The basic tenants of the bible are the ten commandents which still hold up and influence in the very laws we have in our countries. Also the prophet of the bible was not a ******,murdering peadophile psychopath but one who's message was that of peace, tolerance and love. And it is like that with most other mainstream religions where the founders/prophets was always for peace and spiritual attainment. Islam, basically means submit/surrender, and is filled with hate for other religions and races. There is no justification for it's existence or verses which advocate stoning, ****,, beheadings, prostitution and taking over territory of unbelievers. It is on par with Nazism, and as such I believe it should be treated as such. If you see a nazi on the street, that person could be innocent of any crimes, but still you have a right to have suspicion of that individual because you know he holds no sound beliefs. And no I'm not religious, but I respect religions and people's beliefs other than those religious ideologies like islam that breach other peoples rights and lives.

Jesus is the 2nd most quoted prophet in Quran after the Jewish Moses.. but Allah & Muhammad are referenced indirectly more.. And Jesus is considered more special than Moses in Islam because they believe in the virgin birth and all the miracles.. But they don't consider him more special than Adam who had 0 parents.
DoubleEdge, there are Christian groups committing atrocities around the world. They occur in India, Uganda, CAR, Lebanon and other places. Just because our mainstream press doesn't report it it doesn't mean that it doesnt happen. The new testament also contains passages that would be deemed immoral today. Most religious texts do. The Qur'an isn't just a book of hate and violent acts; it contains many passages about peace, love, family life, business ideas and law. Most religious texts contain good and bad things. The bad parts can look extremely out of date now as the texts can be hundreds or even thousands of years old. However, as i said earlier, because these texts are written in such a vague way at times and because they all contain many contradictory passages they can be interpreted in many different ways. You say that the Qur'an has not been updated; most texts aren't. Not in print anyway. But, as time passes and morals and needs change different interpretations of the texts crop up as different groups of people need and want different things. This is why there are different denominations of Christians, Muslims, etc. A lot of denominations of various faiths, including Muslims, realise that their religious texts are not set in stone instruction manuels, but, are more guidelines that can change over time and certain parts can become more or less important. Like morality, it is, metaphorically speaking, akin to a living organism that's attributes evolve over time to the landscape that it is in. Because of this i feel that it is to easy, and frankly lazy, to just cherry pick an odd line here and there. This is what badly researched, reactionary, agenda driven, click bait websites do. The context of the line, any contradictions before and after in the text, if it's a religious law or just advice or scope for interpretation are all important. This is the reason why i personally don't think all Muslims are the same or that they are all either extremists or potential extremists. You say that Muslims are quick to protest when they feel attacked/ marginalised. Do you not think that this maybe because prople like you view them like the terrorists? Would you not want to stand up for yourself if people from your religion/hometown/football team done something wrong and you didn't but you were still tarred with the same brush? Look, im not defending ISIS or any religious fundamentalists; they are indefensible. And i don't usually defend religion to often as even non fundamentalist groups of faith can be problamtic, even when being non-violent. But, being extreme in anyway (even when religion isn't involved) never leads to anything good. Just look at the reaction to Muslim atrocities from non Muslims; one extreme side thinks they are all terrorists and the other that they are all lovable, cuddly, beardy folk who just need a hug and a cup of tea. Both sides are wrong and need to meet somewhere in the middle if we want these attacks to end. We need to make sure who we are fighting and why, why are they attacking us, how are we going to deal with them and, if we go to war, the aftermath after we beat them (something we didn't do in Iraq and Afghanistan) and equally as important, make sure we don't alienate non extremist Muslims, because if we do then we will just radicalise more young Muslims and get more terrorist groups in the future in the same way ISIS popped up after Al-Qaeda.
