I'm not trying to deny Savon's skills, I'm just critical of his career, though it's not like he could've done any better in his situation. I just dislike when people assume he wouldn't went pro and destroyed the competition based on how he did against much younger, smaller, lesser skilled, lesser experienced fighters. He did seem to have a solid all around game and good power though, so we'll never know how his pro game would've went, but I'm definitely not about to favor him over Lewis.
For him to be 200 for that long says that he was very discipline, especially considering his 6'8 frame -- he couldve moved up to super heavy. (which was added while he was active)
And Lennox was as big as they come ... But Ali won his medal at light heavy and ended up 220 ish Lennox wasn't 250 or 260 at the time he won his gold medal either
I would favour Savon over LL - but it could go either way. Savon had same power but probably more sound fundamentals. Its a toos up - and an interesting thread.
Well - Savon had a very impressive KO% and I believe he could have become alot better at the HW pro's. Lennox had very good power but not supernatural like a prime Tyson or Foreman. Power is probably equal, but LL may have the edge.
Savon could do in amateur ring same things than most heavyweight champs do in Pro- ring, with smaller gloves and without headgear ...he was strong dude.
