Fenech as a trainer/manger?.....just about every good fighter he had left him. The list is as long as your arm. Obviously something was upsetting the fighters.
Zelky, Danny didn't do any better after Jeff IMO, but after watching this I actually forgot how good Danny was and I believe that the corner that was involved in the first Beyer fight had a huge impact on the future of Australian Boxing that night:good
I can guarentee I wouldn't be getting my balls busted by my missus for wanting to order Mundine/Taylor she would be sitting beside me watching Green/Dawson or heaven forbid Green/Jones. **** Fenech and **** Mundine.
Once in a while... a sensational comment is made, purely out of comedic interest... Great work kermit. :rofl
Dunno if Fenech ruined Green's career, but 2 incidents that stand out in my mind as irresponsible on Fenech's part are: 1. Allowing Green to continue fighting Sullivan after the 6th round, when he was quiet obviously ****ed from dehydration. 2. Allowing Green to spar James Toney I don't think Fenech deliberately put his own goals before Green's, but eventually Green got wise to it and sacked him when he took off to train Tyson for one of his many comebacks. But Green did well under Salas, and looked a hell of a lot better at LHW under him than he did at SMW under Fenech. He even won a world title at LHW. Fenech isn't the best businessman in the world - he's very passionate, and lets his emotions rule his head. That factor is what made him such a determined fighter, but unfortunately, he hasn't mellowed with age. And yeah, Green was a very talented fighter, maybe not as slick as Mundine but he had everything else going for him - heart, hunger, strength, speed (yes, speed, watch his left jab in his earlier fights), and perosnality.
I know Toney used to be a lighter but when he sparred Danny he was a full blown Heavy and Danny was super middle. The only reason you would put your boy in would be for your own ego, especially knowing from what transpired leading up to it, that it was pretty much going to be a fight.
