Vargas was a good fighter man, not cream of the crop but a very good boxer in his day.

I was a big fan. He was a very good fighter, but got broken by being paced too quickly.

Vargas is probably still active today, with the talent he had, he could've won a version of titles at 160 and 168.

Too bad he was matched too early to Trinidad and a lot of pieces fell off.

I think Vargas was a very good fighter, just a tad below the Elite. At one time he was definitly a pfp guy. Also a real good guy with the fans,Ive met him a few times. Even talked with him for a while at his after party following the Quartey win (Mandalay bay House of BLues) also at the WBHOF banquet. If not rushed into fight with Tito he would have been a HOF one day. Im sure hell make it into the WBHOF though. In fact I think he was probably a better fighter than a couple guys in the IBHOF. I think he has actually become an underrated fighter due to his Ko losses when he was past his best.
