What is considered good or bad fight activity.

I notice the norm for the champs in the UFC is about a fight every 6 months and can be extended over that if they happen to be selected to coach TUF. Then you got a guy like Paul Daley who seems to be pretty active... i would think activity would help keep you sharp in there, given you stay healthy, especially if you're fights don't got the distance

Im not a fighter but 6 months seems a bit too long between fights, no? Obviously, there are exception to when a fighter has to recovery from injuries, a surgery, or any health related problem.

If you were a fighter or trainer and had the ability to control exactly when and how often you or your fighter fought, what would you chose and why.

If you're a champion at least 2-3 fights. Let's not forget champions do fight 5 rounds instead of 3 rounds.

GSP fought 2 fights this year and both last 5 rounds each. That's at least 3 fights for a non championship bout.

  3. Usually just 1-2 for well known UFC fighters. All these UFC talk about 3 times a year is just that, talk.

Not including 13 month a lay off for mononucleosis for Brock & 2 or is it 3 knee surgeries for Shogun.
Fedor nuthuggers double standards and lack of objectivity or ability to handle any criticism = EPIC

Im not Fedor bashing, I as big a fan as anyone. just highlighting once again Morono's complete double standards and self ownage

2 fights a year is fine for the top of the line guys; younger and lower rated fighters should be fighting more, basically as much as they can.

Four times a year if no injuries! That is how it should be done. The Reem was doing this until he feel in love with K1...

Muay Thai fighters are at it every weekend in Thailand cuts and breaks and all! If you can't fight for a long time you are thrown out of the camp over there in some cases!

Injuries aside, do you think the training in different disciplines in MMA (Grappling striking cardio ect) may make a difference in fight times than MT?
