Johnson vs Saad Muhammad 1 is still one of the best balls to the wall fights I've ever seen.

I agree, Marvin Johnson is the epitome of a balls to the wall fighter if there ever was one. Absolute wars with Emebe, Stewart 1&2, Galindez, EMM, Spinks, Saad 1&2, among others I've not yet watched. Guys a warrior.

Did you have Moore beating Holyfield?

Are you talking a hypothetical between Moore and Holyfield? If so I would pick Holyfield.

if you are talking Holyfield vs Moorer I- I believe I had a draw and am not sure I have ever rewatched it???? I think I will put it down for tonight/tomorrow along with JMM vs Barrera but first Fletcher vs Singletary!

Yeah I was talking about their first fight. I had Evander winning 114-113, would have been a draw if not for the 2 point round for the knockdown he scored on Moore in the 2nd round. I also had Barrera winning against Marquez, but bias on my part could play into both as they are both favorites of mine.

Gaspar Ortega vs Benny Paret 1

    Rd. Ortega : Paret (Total)
    1. 9 : 10 (9-10)
    2. 10 : 9 (19-19)
    3. 9 : 10 (28-29)
    4. 10 : 9 (38-38)
    5. 10 : 9 (48-47)
    6. 10 : 9 (58-56)
    7. 9 : 10 (67-66)
    8. 9 : 10 (76-76)
    9. 10 : 10 (86-86)*
    10. 10 : 9 (

Ortega wins by 10 round split decision.

Great fight, like great great, probably top 15 all time, great fight. I've seen it nuff times thanks to Philly's recommendation but I've never managed to get past 5 rounds of scoring due to being such a pain in the ass, so yeah nightmare to score. Well, nightmare to explain why you scored it for them.

One of the things that I noticed throughout was that Ortega had much more success in the centre of the ring whilst crouched, as Paret missed more, and smothered his own work whilst he had Paret on the ropes. Paret had a serviceable defence and a higher workrate, although less power and chin, he was able to stay involved whilst trading thanks to volume. His boxing in the first half of the 8th was probably how he should've fought the whole fight; God knows I'm glad he didn't!

*9th, I scored it even as throughout the exchanges, I thought Paret was landing more, and showing more skill but Ortega was landing the harder shots. Hard to split.
