Froch won because he is the Champion and Direll did not take the belt from him. At the end of the fight, Froch look like he only been in a 1 round warm up.. The skillful, elusive, beautiful in motion Direll ( as a Froch fan I was impressed by Direll) he did not put a BEAT DOWN on the champ. You need to take the belt, we have seen it many times before in boxing. All i can say is i really think a Direll Vs Abraham fight will possibly be the most boring fight ever with Direll on the run and Abraham behind his peek-a-boo glooves... poss 12 rounds with no punches? I was impressed by Direll and do think he outclassed Froch, but did not beat him up.. which is the fight we all know Froch strives in...
He won because he's has a title and because he was at home and because it was a relatively close fight. I've never quite made up my mind about whether a challenger should have to convincingly take a champ's title to win. If I believed that then Dirrell certainly did not take the title. But he did outbox Froch and win the fight be a point or two. Overall, Froch was easily the least impressive fighter of the night. Also, he is actually a lot slower than many of his detractors say. The guy just has no speed.
That's why Dan Goosen (Ward's promoter) better make sure the judges are legit because you just know the "business people" are dying to promote the "unification fight" between that exposed slugger Carl Froch and Kessler .
Well, Kessler can actually fight, which is why I'm not up in arms about the gift Froch was given. Because, as most fans know, when the two meet, Kessler is going to knock Froch out. I thought a bit about it last night, and there isn't a single thing that Froch does better than Kessler in the ring. Kessler is faster, has better defense, just as goog a chin, is a better overall boxer, a better puncher....really, there's no conceivable way Froch could beat Kessler. I'd put Kessler as a 4 to 1 or 5 to 1 favorite.
What a load of bollocks. The statement "you need to put a beatdown on a champ to take his belt" Is one of the most over used and stupid statements in Boxing. Used by just about everyone when they are arguing the case for "their fighter", winning a controversial decision, be it Buncey last night, Froch himself or his followers on here. Or is this an actuall official rule, and judges are told to give the champ a head start.
