Just want to get your views on what you do in the week before the fight: I plan on resting tonight - I feel tired, heavy eyes. Mind is saying train but im going to use a bit of common sense and get a decent nights sleep. Tuesday - 2/3 mile run, light training in the evening plus light sparring Wednesday - running in the evening, sprints Thursday - rest all day, boxing training in the evening with a bit of light sparring Friday, rest all day, walk in the day, early night saturday - rest till fight night What are your plans in the week of your fight? Interested to see how you all prepare for the fight.
How long before? Likely find myself in the same situation but I'm just planning on restricting intake a bit and maybe a short duration in the sauna, although the latter really shouldn't be necessary as it's not a lot of weight at all. I'm starting to take it easier with the training and I'm 2 weeks away from my fight today. Had 7 weeks notice and was told that I wouldn't be put on an away show or anything before then, which was good news. Knocked the weights on the head until after the show, last session was on saturday, will probably only run 2 miles a couple of times the week before, aswell as a few technical sessions at the gym.
I was 3lbs over this morning, gonna go for a 3 mile run at lunch with a bag on. By the time I get off the scales tonight I should be 10st.
Jdsm, I have my first fight on Saturday, on an away show in a small town. Should be a friendly crowd.... How long you been training for? What weight you going to be boxing at?
Trained with a pro coach for about 10 months before going to an amateur gym, got my medical pretty much straight away but the transition is pretty big. Going to be fighting at 69kg, you? It's our homeshow I'm fighting on, but it's a tuesday night so we don't get to weigh in until late in the day, so I think I'm going to also stay up until early hours in the days before so that I wake up later.
I will be boxing at 64kg, I normally walk around at 66kg plus. Constant battle trying to avoid giving in to temptation and eating crap. I also won't get to weigh in till late in the day too, gutted about that. I was hoping to weigh in at 430/5pm then go for something to eat. What you planning to refuel with after weigh in?
Depends on if I have to restrict my intake that much tbh, probably just have an electrolyte drink and a couple of nature valley bars or something along those lines.
