What you can get from being in the gym that can't be taken anywhere else is the knowledge to recognize techniques. Not all boxers communicate well enough to dumb down the explanation of these techs for the average joes.
Two of my favs are Roy and Tarver. Roy is a bit past it now, his speech has altered a bit at least in my view, probably due to his KO losses but back in the 2000's he was an awesome (imo) announcer and is still good. And Tarver is almost always Quality. Foreman and Lewis were not good in my opinion. Cant think of any others I have heard off the top of my head.
Lennox Lewis, roy jopnes junior and manny steward are by far the most balanced boxing pundits i have heard. jum watt and johnny nelson on the other hand need to learn to disguise thier bias a little better
SRL, Roy and Tarver - I love listening to these. And Manny Stewart for his "AWWWW MHAY GHAAAT" in the Berto vs. Ortiz I fight. :!:
I think JMM would be great if English was his first Language. Any translations of fights\fighters i have seen are very in depth.
I'd rather have Henry Hearns commentate than someone who never put on a glove. Anyways, Lamon Brewster would make a great commentator. HBO needs to hire him.
Well, I'm sure that he'll be a great Spanish one, Golpe A Golpe is such a good show with him. - I like Jones as a commentator, Tarver's also quite good. I hated Lewis and Foreman when they did it though. I know that the first two are still active, but I wonder if there'll soon be a younger active fighter that starts commentating for HBO/Showtime, like Jones started to do. Ward did some commentating on a ShoBox card, I think.
