Hearns when the opponent warranted such a tactic.

Liston was the one who sprung to mind straight away for me - remember him doing a beauty against Clay in their first fight which I think Clay was secretly hurt by big time

    oh and this guy

Hearns did well at hooking off the jab, but more to bust up a guys fast. He did not do a great power left hook, but his hook off the jab for busting up a guys face and causing swelling was great. Mark Medal really paid the price, and Hagler had a swollen right eye because of it.

    Agreed.

The only thing Sonny didn't do as well as he had the potential, was to use it to its complete effectiveness for feints. The guy that did that was Ricardo Lopez. Liston was kind of like Michalczewski w/ that great left hook off the jab but I tend to think they were more offensive minded guys & never did use feinting to their fullest.

Imagine if Sonny landed a few of those combos and then started feinting that hook more. Man, it would be dangerous waters for the opponent in those instances.

Wladimir does not use that left hook off the jab frequently enough to be in Liston's class. Sure would like to see him throw it 25 or 30 times more each fight and the opponents are usually right there to be hit.
