Fighters That Got Old Before There Time

Erik Morales, I always thought he was much older than he was in like 2005, he was only 29 then.

 

A lot of that was down to Lynch being a mad alchie, and the Gorbals not being the healthiest of places to grow up in general. Not saying his style had nothing to do with it, but I think a tee-total Lynch has a longer career and doesn't die penniless in the Gorbals.

Then again if yer aunt had baws she'd be yer uncle....

I don't think you did tbh - the OP doesn't specifically state what reasons had to have contributed to a fighter's downfall. In a similar vain to Lynch, what about Scott Harrison? Like Lynch he ended up having problems making his weight class, and like Lynch a lot of it was down to being an alcoholic and having other personal problems. Could Harrison have become the first Scot to win 'world' titles at two different weight classes had he been clean and sober?

He'd still not have fought Juan Manuel Marquez in a month of Sundays, mind...

Eubank sort of, his reflexes in the Benn rematch looked shot at just turned 27. And he looked genuinely shot all-around in the Collins rematch at just turned 29.

well yeah christie never got out of the blocks. similar to alex ramos. GREAT am careers, feared by their peers. then go pro and cant digest a punch coupled with inability to change styles or to improve off mistakes.

the Christie in 1984 is the same Christie against Watson practically.

 

Tyson has to be the most famous rise and fall.......much more than say Bowe.

Peak Jan88 to Jun88 The Holmes, Tubbs, Spinks fights...then a huge drop of where his skills go and he relies on throwing big punches in the Bruno and Williams fights of 89.

That is literally from Mar85 to Jun88 a 3 years and 4 months...then the decline started.

Meanwhile 3 years and Price is just getting started
