Jack Solomons and his shady sidekick manager Ted Broadribb ****ed up Bert Gilroy, as well as Harry Levene used his power against him. Gilroy's own manager Tommy Gilmour Snr. wasn't quite the big noise late - 30s, early mid - 40s that he would later become post war late 40s right through the 50s and beyond. Levene wanted to buy Gilroy's contract, Gilmour said "no joy", but without Levene or Solomons, Gilroy had no chance, IT's wispered that Gilmour got good money, money that Gilroy never seen, to settle for contention fights rather than title fights(?). Who knows! Truth is though, Levene, Solomons and Broadribb ****ed him over to secure their own boys, and with the world at war it was easy done!
