Since Marciano never beat a super heavyweight of any ability whatsoever, are we then to say :Its impossible to envisage him being able to do so? Since he also never took and absorbed the power of said class super heavy should we conclude therefore, that we cannot conceive of him being able to withstand it? FYI Jim Jeffries never fought a modern heavyweight, does that mean he cannot be matched with one in a mythical head to head? Muhammad Ali never went 25rounds in a fight , we then can't match him with Jim Corbett? I ask these questions because if my thread is "silly and wrong", as you state , your reaction to it borders on the ludicrously absurd!
I don't think that it is an impossible ask, but I have no idea exactly what it would take to do it, and neither realistically do you!
The logic that this would hang on, would be that a guy who had withstood the most brutal shots from class cruiser weights, and small heavyweights , is going to evaporate when he is hit by a super heavyweight! That is not how it works in the real world. Former middleweights, and 40+ year old fighters, have absorbed the bombs of these lumbering oafs. A man of any size, is only a puncher when he proves it!
Mike Tyson is a certainty. There's just no way that Rocky could weather such an assault. The power would be too much.
I beg to differ, I don't believe for one moment Marciano was impossible to ko. According to the fight reports he was on the verge of being stopped by average hitting light heavyweight Ted Lowry, dropped and stunned by 39/40 years old light heavy Moore and dropped by 37 years old Walcott. He was also in real danger of being stopped on cuts against Keene Simmons and Ezzard Charles. It may be heresy to you but I think if Sonny Liston,Wlad Klit,Lennox Lewis,George Foreman, land their Sunday punches on him he will go down and probably not get up ! Maybe not the first time but eventually. I also think Sharpshooters such as Ali and Holmes have excellent chances of forcing a tko stoppage on his tender skin. In short I think a 220lbs+ heavy hitting bomber with good skills has an excellent chance of knocking out Marciano, and that fast jabbing, swift footed ,big men who have over 10 inches of reach 5 inches in height and27/30lbs in weight have the same excellent chance of opening up the vulnerable tissue around his eyes and forcing the referee to intervene and rescue Rocky. That is my idea of what it would would be needed to stop Marciano and you are welcome to disagree. However, since you have already disqualified yourself from the discussion by saying you have no idea what it would take and pleading ignorance of the qualities required I wonder why you are still replying?
I am using the "logic" that Col Sanders has used and demonstrating just how ridiculous it is! Are any of the men I mentioned: Wlad Vitali Liston Foreman Ali Lewis " Lumbering oafs" Please name the fighters that could concede 60+ lbs to Lennox Lewis?
If anyone wants to watch the 11th versus Walcott, The Rock is on the verge of getting stopped there. It was possible but perhaps you needed to be a bit under 40 years old and bit over 200 pounds.
For them to use that power, they need to be confident they arent going to get stopped by Marciano in return.
No he is not. Maybe groggy for a bit but far from being stopped. Marciano takes a worse beating in the next round anyway. https://streamable.com/ju0oq
Even then though. Can't say he's about to be stopped here. https://streamable.com/94les But as for the question at hand I'd give Louis a good shot of stopping the Rock.
