Famoso Hernandez was never easy for anyone, hell he was competitive with Mayweather,Chicanito, and Morales and the fight with Jesus Chavez was razor close. He also beat a prime Forbes and Juuko not to mention some other good wins.
The thread is about non-elites. An all time great like Nelson doesn't really qualify, although Whitaker did box circles around him anyway.
Davila was an excellent little technician, but he was definitely outclassed by Gomez in their bout. He was also handled with ease by Happy Lora in both of their bouts, though he was past his prime by then. He was a little bit green in the tooth at the time of the Gomez bout come to think of it. Then again Gomez was a young lion at the time as well.
I was ready to respond to you at first, but then you said it for me at the end Davila was already around his mid 30s when he fought Lora, ancient for a bantam. Davila and Gomez were both up and coming when they fought. Davila was hell for anyone at his best
Mando Muniz gave Napoloes all he wanted same with Palomino has a lot of good wins also an up and coming Muniz also gave Emile Griffith a tough fight. Only one that truly whipped him was SRL and i believe that was Muniz last fight and he was washed up.
Is Ricardo Mayorga too good for this thread? Mayorga came to my mind when I saw this thread, because he never disappointed. Was blasted out by De la Hoya and Trinidad, but managed to get his hands on those guys before going. Gave Cory Spinks all he could handle, and did me proud after I stated he undoubtedly had business being in the ring with Shane Mosley.
Jorge Lujuan. Not exactly elite, although he did have a nice run as bantamweight titleholder, but even when he lost he still acquitted himself rather well. Ditto Mamby.
