Not only was the fight implied not a robbery (even though I scored it for Hagler), but there are also genuinely dubious losses and draws, earlier in Hagler's career, which saw him come back and avenge such instances.

I really meant it is a joke...we need a sarcasm font like in my 76ers and Eagles forums...

I still think Hagler won a close fight...but Marv would claim it as a robbery, and wouldn’t fight again. Not really sure he would have fought again even if he won.

I am not sure a lot of the fights listed were out and out ribberies any way. Many of them were close decisions

Sorry mate LOL!!!!! Marvin sure took it as a robbery i guess. Took him years to get over it. I loved it when he said c'mon Tommy in thew middle of his Hearn - SRL rematch commentary lmao.

I would suggest Fenech was never the same after 88. Smashing the anvil that was Villasana's chin ruined his hands, indeed after the Martinez fight in 89 he called it day, his hands were that bad.

Remember going into the first Nelson fight, Fenech had, had one fight in 20 months and that opponent was decent Commonwealth level.

Footage of the bout shows it was always erroneously labelled a robbery.

Tommy Farr seems to have become disillusioned, after being on the wrong end of a few questionable decision.

I think McCallum-Toney 2 wasn't too far from a robbery and Mike was never the same afterwards. He immediately went from being a very in shape ageing guy at MW to being a fat old guy at LHW.

they ruined loads of great fighters with robberies, especially if there were a few, the knowledge of knowing you've got 'more' than a fight on your hands must have been pure anguish for some fighters.

the sad thing about it all, theses fighters were just 'boys', lads and young men, who gave it their all and had their hearts ripped out.

as in all areas of life, at the Mercy of 'those' who are in Position to say who gets in and who doesn't.

GOD Bless them all who gave it their all and who knew it wasn't up to integrity and sportsmanship. Thank you.

That is why boxing is a subjective sport...excluding K.O.'s & TKO's.....and everyone has their own opinion.

A different one. Bruce Curry. In only sec yr as pro he fight Wilfred Benitez.
Knocked him down 3 x and still lost dec. Rematch he lost majority dec after
fighting in Japan 11 days earlier. Was like Ken Norton with Ali he just seemed
to have a superior fighter number. With proper management Bruce was equally
as talented as his younger brother Donald . Bruce lost a berth on USA Montreal
    Squad to SR Leonard.

    joebeadg,
Young is a very good shout if you feel he was robbed against Norton. I watched the fight at the time (UK transmission, Reg Gutteridge doing the commentary), mind you, I was only 14 at the time. I watched some of it again about a year ago with a US commentary team; the impression I had was that the commentators (can't remember who) seemed to get very excited when Jimmy landed a clean shot, but Norton's steady work didn't seem to get little response from them.

My impression was that the scoring of this fight was a matter of interpretation; do you like Young's cleaner shots or Norton's (arguably ineffective?) aggression? Years ago there was a perception in the UK that USA judges favoured aggression when judging and scoring fights - is there a case that Norton-Young falls into this category, or was it an out-and-out robbery? I think I'll have to watch this one again. My Mrs is out tonight so I may watch it then!

Whatever one's view of the fight, there is no doubt that Young's motivation suffered as a result and he was not the same performer again.

I though Ali-Norton 3 was a robbery. Norton himself stated, in his autobiography that he was never the same fighter after Yankee Stadium; he said never trained as hard, never ran as far or was never as motivated after that fight. That was from the horse's mouth, and I have to say that Kenny came across as very sincere.

young/Norton was a close fight. But seems to me a defensive guy who counters doesn't get the credit from judges as do the ineffective aggressor. Now, I know sometimes that can be a fine line. Both boxers had their moments in that fight, Jimmy let Kenny into the fight after breezing through the first part of the fight as I remember, was a real geed fight actually.

And Kovalev had already become a lazy, entitled prima donna in training camp, according to John David Jackson.
