Which boxers are most overrated in terms of the specific traits that we often consider in evaluating boxers? Not "greatness" or overall abilities, but things like:

    -punching power
    -footspeed
    -footwork
    -defensive skills
    -jabbing
    etc.

I'd say footwork personally, most boxers have enough to chase some around the ring and relly more on reflexes to avoid taking shots.

Alot of people on here I'm assuming are gonna say power but I disagree, for me personally watching a fight where no ones getting hurt would be like watching cencenored porn, I can't get off to it. Makes it 10 times more interesting when there's action involved that's why were fight fans right?

For me it's stuff like Warrior Spirt or Heart of a Champion. Those are really things you can't quantify to a large degree, and frankly, if you're a professional boxer, you like have a warrior spirt. To me those things can on occasion be used here and there to separate excellent fighters from great fighters for example. For example, when someone says a fighter will win because of heart, when he's behind the 8 ball in all other categories, that is what I'm talking about. Heart most times will have you go out on your shield when you're overmatched, not be the deciding factor in your win.

I don't know what's overrated the most, but film study and not relying on what a book or web site told you, the understanding of how styles can make fights, and objective reasoning without double standards could be better in my opinion.

If you're looking for specific examples I'd say the power of Cleveland Williams and Razor Ruddock was overrated.

They hit hard to a certain level but against the best guys they fought it seemed to dissipate somewhat.

I'd go with that . The top guys they faced , Lewis and Wlad , never looked in any serious trouble at all from them despite being classed as serious hitters .
