Brian Mitchell deserves a mention for me. So fluid mid range, slipping punches and creating angles while counter punching.

My Dad watched Loughran train many times in the late 20's early 30's. I have a special place for Loughran as my Dad vividly described his style and what a great jab he had.

Loughran looked elegant to me...a cross between a boxer, a fencer and a matador.

Got to be pre lay off ali...was like poetry in motion. Seemed from another planet. Followed by roy jones and probably tyson. Less elegant that the first two but almost as entertaining in his own brutal way.

I agree. Hearns always made it exciting. He always said after he fought that everyone said I got my money's worth.

Some fights he looked shaky, some fights he didn't. So i'll say he was pleasing & entertaining, without being that fluid or graceful.

one fight I love watching over and over is McCallum vs. Curry. Somehow that fight is fascinating to watch over and over for me. To try and figure how Donald's eye swelled, because I think the swelling contributed to him being distracted and losing focus and backing up to see Mike clearly. It almost looked like he had to look up to see Mike clearly in some exchanges when he backed up.

I know what you mean, but at the same time he could look very awkward but that's probably what helped to break his opponents rhythm.

He had poor defense but he wasn't offensively crude at all He He had every type of punch in his aresenal and could ko a guy with either hand. His straight right hand was a major weapon. He got hit enough to ensure two way action.
