I have to admit I had it all wrong about Ward.:oops:The Froch fight is probably the most prominent example for me in the last couple years.

Has to be haye when he fought klitshko his displays of manliness sportsmanship, lack of excuse making and his ability to spend 12 rounds on his knees is a testament all fighters

I like Cleverly but he does need to step it up in competition, as far as im concerned the Bellew rematch can wait, I want Cleverly-Shumenov next

Ive wanted that fight since before they were both champions

If it isnt made this time I will have to hurt "He who shall not be named"

Sweetpea beating Ramirez, Floyd beating Hernandez, Duran beating Leonard, Spinks beating Johnson, Pacquiao draw with Marquez.

I thought that Floyd and Sweetpea would turn out like Meldrick Taylor. Boy was I wrong.

I loved Leonard, and was a big Marvin Johnson fan, and Duran did the near impossible, and Spinks showed me he was a murderer.

When Barerra barely fought back against Pacquiao, I thought Pacquiao was overrated.
Pacquiao showed me that he could truly fight. Even Marquez was shocked.

Juan Marquez was a guy being overrated until he fought Freddie Norwood. Even though Marquez lost, he showed potential. I used to argue with guys on AOL.com Pro Discussions board back then that Marquez is overrated.

I disliked Wlad until he beat Peter.

Gatti until he beat Ward. I never got over that low blow Gatti faked against Patterson until he beat Ward.

Trinidad until he lost to Hopkins.

Mike McCallum until he drew with Toney.

    hopkins v pascal

i don't think pascal is a particularly great fighter or anything but when hopkins bent down and did the press ups before round 6 or whatever, that was absolute ****ing genius.

there could not have been a greater psychological aspect in a boxing match than a 45 year old fighter doing press ups inbetween rounds against a young opponent. that boxing match was won there and then and i take my hat off to hopkins.

Khan-Maidana. Khan boxed very impressively, and toughed out an incredible 10th round. I wanted Maidana to win badly, but Khan made me give him his respect.

Pacquiao-Cotto. I always thought Pacquiao was incredibly unsound and reckless. I was pulling hard for Cotto, and while he wasn't at his best technically, the way Manny picked him apart by the mid rounds was impressive, especially as I went on to learn the nuances of the fight. The world still wasn't sure if he could take on a big strong welterweight who wasn't drained to the extent De La Hoya was. I remember Merchant saying, "We knew he was good, well, he's better than we thought."

Alexander-Maidana. I ****ing hated Alexander's technique. He wouldn't turn over his punches, had a stiff upper body, punched in a predictable rhythm, and couldn't fight going backwards. Not to mention the robberies with Kotelnik and Matthysse. It wasn't just the rugged style of Maidana that made him looked good in that fight, Alexander upped his game and improved a whole lot. Looked much tighter, sharper, and fluid in his timed execution of his offense. He's not a favorite, but he's earned my respect.
