Nobody is saying there are'nt any Pinoy's who dont know their boxing.....but are you going to tell me there are more Pinoy's who know the sport well than not??.......even in Forums like this? ......Check out that BC site, and the reader comments that I talked about earlier...... BC is a site that writes at nauseum about Pacquiao....a story to benefit him sends out the Pinoy's in droves salivating in approval...... .....but check out that article I posted and fuming reader comments from Pinoy's because of it....:rofl :rofl Those comments are coming from Pac loyalist, and there are more of them in the Phillipines than there are fans that listen to reason. Let me just congratulate you Pinoy's here at ESB, I think alot of you even in your strong support of Pac are cognizant of the fact that losing to JMM is a real possibility. Through watching Pac, alot of you guys are broadening your knowleadge of the sport and admittedly come to recognize the strenghts and weaknesses of the different fighters. Like in any other forum, ESB is full of nutcases, but as a whole is alot better than any other forum up and going that I've visited. In short, I have'nt been generalizing or stereotyping as has been pointed out.....of course I'm aware that there are Pinoy's that know their boxing, but I'm also aware that there are more that dont.....that comes out in Polls of who they think will win between JMM and Pac.... Check out that front page poll at BC, like 90% are predicting that Pac will dispose of JMM, and most think he will do it handily!:rofl :rofl :rofl
Just give us time mate. Most Pinoys only awoke to boxing when Manny stepped into the world stage(I didn't though because I was already watching boxing even WAYYYY before Manny Pacquiao, and that is mainly because of my Dad). But we're definitely coming to know alot more of boxing as time goes on. I've been meeting alot of Filipinos who are now broadening their boxing knowledge and are watching other boxing matches besides Pacquiao's. So in time, my friend. In time.
No question.....a JMM victory will do wonders to bring alot of those Pinoy fans who are on the cusp of becoming true boxing fans, to reality. Right now, the average Pinoy fan is riding the Pac wave and loving it more than boxing itself......enjoy the last few days of it!:hey .......on the 15th, I will welcome the Pinoy fan to reality with open arms!:yep :smooch
Man the pinoys here have me completely fooled! Based on how they act towards him you'd think he was their Master.
Even if Pac wins, Pinoys can still VERY MUCH become true boxing fans. It doesnt have to be JMM the only one who needs to win in order for my countrymen to learn more about boxing. In all honesty based on this very early stage of Filipino knowledge about boxing, I think that if JMM wins, its more likely that Filipinos will gradually lose interest in boxing rather than the other way around, that's because the hero has been beaten and most would think there's no use in watching it again. That's usually what happens when your new to something. But on the otherhand, if Pac continues to win it will give Filipinos greater chance to explore and learn more about boxing, because by then Pinoys would be more curious who are the other great boxers besides Manny. Leading into a more level-headed and fair Pinoy boxing fans in the future. There's also a good side to Manny's fame, y'know..
If pinoys thinks he is their Master he should have won the last election were he ran for congress... Yes he is famous like a rock star... he is like the Michael Jordan of the country but he is no god. He ain't even good enough to qualify as a role model to the filipino youth if you ask me... :good
