They would never let a non-American near him during that time .

Leon lost in his only match as champ. to Ali. Micheal beat Larry Holmes, beat him in a rematch, then beat Norwegian SteFfen Tangsted. so in two title defenses he fought Holmes and a Norwegian. what non Americans are you proposing either of them fought instead?

I'm talking about Michael Spinks . They never let Bruno near him when he was at his best .

he had two title defenses. not much time to fight Bruno. one was a rematch with Holmes. far superior to Bruno. Spinks got stripped, don't remember why. then Tyson won his old IBF belt.

Frank only ever had a shot at the titles when Tyson was already clearly the Champ and no way was Bruno gonna win that one . Bruno was dodged throughout the early and mid 80s when he was at his peak and prime and they made sure Bruno was not getting in the ring with Spinks .

spinks had two defenses. holmes was infinitely better than bruno. then the norwegian guy. bruno never would have had the title more than one fight, unless he hid with the title in the uk.

guess Bruno had a win over a top notch guy, like Whytes win over the awe inspiring Malcolm Tann.

What Michael Spinks are you talking about ? He held them from 85 to 88 before a loss to Tyson which was inevitable . In three years he fought 4 or 5 times I think hardly an active Heavyweight fight career . Tangsted was a journeymen HW at best who drew with Douglas FFS in the early 80's . Christian Hammer today has better credentials than Tangsted . Honestly Greenhornet US V UK at HW and MW has been nothing but vexed with dodges , ludicrous decisions and bad business practices . Lewis Holyfield DRAW , Fury Wilder DRAW funnily enough when the US only held one HW title and now ruling out AJ even tho he has left his "Fortress" as they say . No fight for the WBC against Whyte , Fury or indeed Usyk or Parker instead we are getting another Ortiz fight and Kownacki . Yeah I'm pretty confident when I say the US Champion is dodging World Competition .

Team Wilder do not want an AJ fight. They simply don't want it, turned down 100 million for Breazeale and AJ twice.

Now it's "Not until 2020". What next? Wilder is a joker, he keeps screaming AJs name but when he gets legitimate offers he vanishes and don't want to talk.

Ortiz didn't want the AJ fight after all his claims, turned down 7 million and then tried to say "They were lowballing"

Hearn obviously has proof they didn't lowball Ortiz and when Hearn said enough is enough and he will expose Team Ortiz they come out and say they "Opps sorry, we dropped the ball on that deal"

Whyte was offered a small fortune to fight AJ, he priced himself out and tried to claim all sorts, went off to the US to find a promoter/TV company, came back to the UK and straight back to Hearn once he realised he would be getting paid "Wilder Money" over there and knew he was better off here in the UK.

After Fury was robbed in the US, he said he would fight AJ, there were talks, he spoke to Hearn and asked for a flat fee, apparently he would have got what he wanted too.

Fury flys off and signs with ESPN/Top Rank and is fighting some random that's ranked about 40 odd on Boxrec.

    He don't want it either.

Bottom line is, the "top Heavyweights" don't really want to fight AJ, they want the money but don't want the beating.

I have so respect for fighters like Parker, Povetkin (and others) and now Ruiz who actually believe they are going to win and understand what will open up for them if they do so accept a fair deal, nothing amazing but fair.
