I can see DAZN actually stopping me watching boxing. I know you can find alternative methods but I I do find this a less enjoyable. Id rather just pay a realistic price for a good product.
Fighters were being paid way over the odds to fight on Saudi undercards and now won’t fight for any less. Prime example - Josh Kelly turning down Boots Ennis. Saudi undercard fight aside, the money offered to fight Ennis would be by far his highest payday but now he’s been paid X amount (by Turki) he won’t go any lower than that. Mark my words, the Saudi involvement will absolutely ruin British boxing long-term. Yeah we may have got a few fights at the start we wouldn’t normally get but long-term it’s going to be horrendous.
As per my above post, they’ve had a few fights on Riyadh Season undercards and now won’t accept a figure less than that, hence why they’ve had to try and squeeze out a few more £££ from PPV.
Have DAZN ever released their PPV numbers? It be interesting to see how Parker vs. Wardley does crowd wise inside the arena and on PPV. I think it be a good fight but not enough with a under whelming undercard to make me pay £20 on top for it.
I've pretty much thrown the towel in on boxing now, Sky don't show anything, and I simply refuse to subscribe to DAZN ever again, I just watch the highlights on YT or whatever the next day, I'm pleased to see a British title fight (generally always the BEST fights) on the BBC, even if I despise that platform as well. Boxing has become too much hard work to follow for me
My DAZN subscription runs out next month I won't be renewing it far too many pay per views on there now it's not worth it.
Yes, that's another thing, the proliferation of PPV fights now, means boxing (already a niche sport as it is) is now such an incredibly expensive one as well. I have loved boxing all my life, have boxed myself, and now find myself becoming apathetic towards it. It's just too much hard work, too much money, , and there are few fights that I genuinely care about watching.
